I sure can Billy as that was our best ever season in the top flight. There was a time in March/April 1963 that the pundits thought we might emulate the Spurs side of two years previous and do the double. We seemed to play and win most weeks and the others were always playing catch up. In the end we came 6th and lost to Man U in the final - and that was the best they had played all season and we were favourites ! It was my last winter term at school and we never played football until late March. At least I had basketball and cross country running to stop me going stir crazy. I remember the Leicester Mercury sports reporters going bananas as they thought we were going to win something at last. 47 years on and I am still waiting

47 years on and I am still waiting You don't count the League Cup then, Filbert? Didn't a Surrey lad called Matt Elliott help Leicester City to Wembley glory in 2000?

Didn't Leicester beat Liverpool in the semi final ? United were involved in a relegation battle that season. Leyton Orient and Manchester City went down.
I remember Denis Law scored a hatrick at Filbert Street but Leicester won 4 - 3 !

62/3 was the season U's lost to Wimbledon in the Amat Cup. U's lost at W&H on Boxing Day & played their next match on the 16th Feb, beating Clapton in the AC 1st rnd. After that it was a diet of AC & SSC matches & they did not play a league game until 2nd April. The season ended for U's on 28th May. They played ten matches in May, 9 of them in a 16 day spell.
If that happened this season, we would finish just in time for the WC, which itself would finish on the 11th July, the date we played our first friendly this season at Basingstoke!

Wasn't it the 2000/1 season where we ended upl playing 41 league games instead of 42 due to constant postponements due to rain. I think we ended up not playing Hendon twice that season? Or did I dream it all?

It was definitely Hendon but from what I remember we could of played the match but as it would not of made any difference to the table I think the clubs decided not to bother?

Yes I agree we have won silverware before several times in the League Cup. However I will go along with what supporters of the big boys say when they get knocked out of it "It's only a mickey mouse cup" Matt Elliott was a legend at LCFC almost as much as Steve Walsh was. Gary Lineker? Who's he? lol

Was it 6 goals he scored in an FA cup game that was abandoned and then they (Utd or City) lost the replay? Think it was Luton Town.

City V Luton.I looked those other games up,amazingly, they played each other twice in two days a month before the Cup Final. April 15th United 2 - Leicester 2 April 16th Leicester 4 - United 3 Nobby Stiles played in both games but was dropped for the final. On that subject do you remember Ken Leek being dropped for a final against Spurs,i think they put Hugh McIlmoyle in ?

Or did I dream it all? Yeah, we finished on 41 games. I think we were missing the home game against Hendon. They had loads of games called off that season.

Spot on about Ken Leek Billy. Young Hugh Mcilmoyle came in the night before the final. I believe Ken was still out on the town then (Possibly with manager Matt Gillies wife?).
