Well we won without being anywhere near our best against a physical WA side who had less up top then Yul Brynner, but give them credit for being hardworking and actually not bad at the back for a side which is bottom of the table. We made hard work of it with the pitch, ourselves and the officials all being more of a threat then WA. We created 5 good chances in the first half but failed to convert and it was getting increasingly frustrating until we were handed what I think was a fortuitous penalty, ball to hand from about 3ft we have not been given more blatant handballs recently. BWG who had a good game made no mistake and it was a poor corner, a bit of a grubber which somehow found its way through the box to leave Kes to smash home from 6yrds which gave us our second. We really should have been home and dry but you know us, on 80mins the impressive KS clears straight to the only WA player anywhere near who promptly pops the ball in the net to make it 2-1. One more scare for us when AJ who had what I thought was a bit of a mare today was caught out over the top but big Kev came to the rescue with a fine save.
A funny ground, shame there was no home support and as for the ref some terrible decisions but probably as bad for both sides. We are 10pts behind Dartford and if this was a month ago maybe the chase would be realistic but I think we are just going to run out of road.
Well Done Lads, MareOTM AJ and difficult to pick a MOTM but I was impressed with BWG and SP.

It weren't pretty but then it was never going to be against a side who scrapped for everything gave us little space but had very little to offer going forward.
3pts is all that matters though and we certainly deserved them. Yes, the pen was probably a bit harsh but after last Saturday's handball incidents we were owed one.
As for our second, James Hawes got a vital touch that diverted the ball nicely for Kes to crash home. I tink we can allow Scrivs error after his heroics on Tuesday & he was at it again in the last min to deny Abbey a point.
Ref was not great and spent too long lecturing players, although he did keep his card in his pocket for most of the game, not that there was any bad fouls today.
As for Capershotts, great character, certainly no worse than Ashford for me & far better than Sittingbourne, Maidstone's home last season.
Second place for now. Margate will be tough on Tuesday, two wins in two for them.

Echo a lot of Frakey's sentiments above really. Bearing in mind how quickly Waltham have come up, with such a tiny budget and no fans, its a credit to them they are fighting for survival this year - I hope they stay up to be honest, because that is more of what we want to see in the Ryman, rather than bigtime charlies buying success.
As for the game, Waltham seemed to have the same gameplan as when they played us - physical at the back and going for a 0-0. We did get a lucky penalty, but to be honest I thought Joseph kicked it at his hand as he ran out of options. Great strike by BWG for the penalty - good to know we have at least 3, perhaps 4, decent penalty takers - that could be vital come the end of April!
I missed the 2nd goal whilst signing a card, so I can't comment!!! But grateful it happened!
As for their ground - very tinpot, but has character, and give them a break - with their quick rise and no money, what would you expect! Friendly people there too.
Minimum 4 wins now will secure play offs I reckon (66 points should do it) but I think we need to aim for over 70 so we can be masters of our own destiny. We head the form table, 10 games and 2 months since a league defeat, no away defeat since Dec 5th. And we have the depth of squad to make this happen, and perhaps give Dartford a little scare along the way (although I'm under no illusion we will win the title!).
Well done again boys, lets keep this roll running - its almost like a re-run of 2004!!!

2-1 FT yeeeeeeees!!! Thanks king Twitter! Glad to be of service! Would be good if people joined and 'followed' as well viewing so that I can gauge how useful to actual supporters it is. As an aside, Dos followed twitter updates for the Horsham match Sorry mate, I'm a bit a technophobic, all I've got is the Twitter thing bookmarked on my phone and that's that. So joining is a mystery to me!!

With Twitter you can follow sports personalities, pundits et al. and they are often v. interesting. It can be somewhat confusing at first but you soon get to understand it.

Vern, Beaney, hope I've followed you back but if you're using names that I don't recognise then I may not have. DM me on here if required and I'll make sure. Line ups - yes, I've thought about that and will start tweeting them, only problem may be that I do it by text so will have to see if I can manage the character limit. Latest item picked up on twitter and re-tweeted to our followers is the Waltham Abbey match report - linked on www.twitter.com/suttonunited or www.twitter.com/wafcOr, for Amber Aleman ( ) - I'll be generous and put a direct link: nln24.com/reports/match/abbey-make-sutton-fight-all-the-way

Another good win today - that's one defeat in 16 matches now and some real momentum is gathering.
We're looking impressive all over the park now I believe - JG's return has really bolstered our defensive displays, the midfield is working really hard and looks strong now and up front we are carrying more of a threat than we did pre-Christmas.
Our goals today may have had a touch of fortune but they were nonetheless deserved. An unfortunate slip by the (season-long) impressive AJ (os; your observations re his display today were harsh in the extreme) set up a tense finale for the third game in quick succession when a comfortable two goal lead was halved yet again with ten minutes to play. The excellent KS atoned for an uncharacteristic error by making a splendid save at the death. os; where i do agree with you was re BWG and Steve Perkins who both played well again.
All in all a good three points. On to Margate. Well done guys. They may well be over the horizon but our current form may still yet demand a few glances over the shoulder down Princes Park way.
Nice also to see a few new folk donning the amber and chocolate scarves on away terraces. Keep winning and there'll be more.

An unfortunate slip by the (season-long) impressive AJ (os; your observations re his display today were harsh in the extreme) Not intended to be harsh just honest, and as I would have AJ down as our player of the season so far and I am constantly singing his praises I thought his performance was way below his normal impeccable standard. Uncharacteristically he was caught in possession and dispossessed several times in the first half, his distribution was poor all afternoon and was woefully caught out of position with the ball over the top of him at the end which Kev rescued us from. Praise where its due and AJ gets that because he sets such consistently high standards, see I have given my player of the season (so far) away to you in my defence

I agree it was not AJ's best game.Should have been more comfortable than it actually was but another 3 points.Dartford have two games this week which should go a long way to deciding whether they are catchable. If on Friday morning we are 7 points behind them and they have just one game in hand i'll believe we can do it!

Another 3 points and unbeaten for a while even after the run of tricky games just gone so things looking positive.
A lot of the games lately have brought good results but the a few negative comments on here about aspects of the performances which have not always been the best. Lets keep racking up the points and save the best performances for the play offs (or last few games if Dartford continue to wobble).
First game for ages today when I havent had to wear a hat and could still feel my feet at the end. Spring has sprung!

Another game in which we were below our best but still did enough to deserve the win. I think the teams in our division are (unsurprisingly) showing signs of end-of-season fatigue, but making the most of the depth in our squad is helping to give us the edge over opponents. (That, for example, allowed us to start with Anthony Joseph this afternoon.)
I didn't see anything today to change my view that Waltham Abbey are the weakest side in the Ryman Premier (which, in a strong division, is not to say they're a bad side). Today's results leave them at the foot of the table.
We're now second, but I think it's highly unlikely that we'll be able to overhaul Dartford. The aim now must be to keep our place in the top three.
