I can't even begin to talk about the game (still!) because I will cry, but I just wanted to say that Simon's posts are the nicest I've ever seen on here from a Ks fan...thanks Simon, and good luck.

Just seen your posting above while browsing, sallycat. Thanks - you're very welcome.
The thoroughly unpleasant stuff at BW today, and the complete contrast with the welcome and atmosphere at GGL last Tuesday, brought home to me how much I enjoy the boisterous rivalry our 2 clubs share, even when it occasionally tips over into something a bit sparkier. Deep down there's a decency and respect (of sorts) that was totally absent at BW today.
Good luck again for the SSC final, as I said on another thread here, it would be good to see you end the season with some silverware.
Finally - though it hurts me to have to say it - see you next season!

Thanks Simon As you say there is a clear difference between a bit of banter and local rivalry and what is being reported from Boreham Wood today. I will be honest and say there have been times when K's supporters have felt intimidating rather then just banter, things like swearing at opposing supporters as they walk past and the amount of chants and songs which are negative towards the opposition rather then supportive of your own team. As for the match the over night I have no complaints about the result the better side on the night won, but forgive us for thinking we buggered it up. I actually wanted K's to go up because I wanted you out of the way for next season but as it is we will have to do it all again. I would also say that K's fans should remember that it was our Mr Doswell who called your manager to offer support last Autumn when you were getting tanked every week.

For me, as a Ks fan, the only consolation from yesterday's nightmare at Boreham Wood is that we get to play you guys again next season.

rex as usual is spot on. We see you as our great local rivals not because we are the closest geographically but because we are the closest historically and in 'feel'. Both of us, unlike either Tooting and Mitcham or Levred for example, are well known non-league clubs who have known Conference football and aspire to it again. I think it would be fair to say that you, in national terms, are the slightly 'bigger' club (God, that hurt) - Coventry 1989 etc etc - but we have very similar standing in the non-league game. It will be lovely to play you again twice next season, but even nicer the day we do so again as fellow members of BSS or better.
Have a good summer, all,
C"MON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!!!!!!!

One difference, Simon, is that Sutton have never dropped down to Step 4 of the non-League pyramid. ;D
I'd be quite happy for both our clubs to get promoted next spring, so we then have a decent local derby in BSS. (I don't have a lot of faith in Carshalton's or T&M's promotion potential.) But there's a long way to go before we can seriously contemplate that happening.

The difference being of course that U's didn't financially destroy themselves to get to The Conference or if not that, destroy themselves while they were in it!

Nothing to do with football (nor necessarily to do with this thread) but I have a soft spot for K's due to their shirt sponsorship by Banquet Records and their link to Cherry Red.
Their fans may get annoying with the constant "we hate sutton" stuff but the indie music fan in me can let it go.
As long as we finish above them in the league next season, i hope they finish second!

Meh. Everyone hates us. They should take a number and get in line.

They did have number 3 in the rival queue but Croydon has knocked them down to the 4th spot.
