It's the first time I've been able to get to a game this season and I'm not sure I want to go again. What I saw were two very poor teams. I don't have any complaints about the commitment of the players, it's the quality. To me Warren was the best player last night, he really worked his socks off. All sorts of things are wrong at the moment, we can't pass, we have strikers who don't know what option to take (i.e. we are 1 up with a break on, Craig has the ball 25 yards out and decides to shoot with a defender in the way. Had he passed to Nicky who was in the centre of the goal he would have been clean through). Incidentally I was talking to a Tooting fan after the final whistle and he thought our no 6 was awful. They then announced that Ug was man of the match, he couldn't believe it. Now you're not going to like this but I agree with Tooting man and have felt for some time that he is playing above his standard. The reason is this, he's too slow and gives the ball away too much. I reckon he's at least a yard off the pace and his distribution (for a play maker) leaves a lot to be desired. The reason we like him so much is that he gives 110% every game and for that he can't be faulted and I wish we had more players like that.
I reckon (and I've only seen 1 match so it's a little unfair but obviously I read the comments on this board) this is the poorest side we've had in the past 30 years (last year we had Matt Gray so we were marginally better). We don't want to go down but will do if changes aren't made soon. Also changes need to made for the sake of the clubs finances (I could have sworn there was less than 370 there last night!) as we will soon be getting gates around the 250 mark if we're not careful.
A quick comment on the ref. I actually thought he had a good game although possibly missed a few fouls. Basically he wanted to keep play flowing instead of blowing his whistle all the time and he wasn't conned by a couple of dives in the area by the Hayes players. He was also (unfortunately) perfectly placed to award the penalty.

A little point about the attendances. Hayes had no supporters last year and yeading had even less! A crowd of 370 on a tues night isn't actually that bad (Bearing in mind Yeading v Thurrock attracted 85 people last season!)

" Err, the Brentford lads have gone. " Well they are not exactly a loss. We were spoilt by our loanees last year Disappointed to lose Ross - his performance at Eastleigh was first class I thought and he was only just beginning to get match fit. I thought Darius looked good as a centre-back. Still can't understand why he was moved to left-back as soon as LG decided he could be bothered to play for us

Why bother mentioning the away fans? It's the home fans that aren't turning up at the moment!!

I agree about the loan lads. Darius and Scooby had formed a decent partnership at CB, then Lewis decides he does want to play for us again, we shift Darius to LB to accomodate him and all of a sudden, we're a complete shambles again at the back.
Ross took a couple of games to get going, but had a knock when he joined. So not surprising really. Thought he led the line on his own really well at Eastleigh and scored in 2 consecutive games.
Lets face it, whilst not quite having the impact of Ide\Gaynor last season, they'd been certainly no worse than the rest of the side.
And can anyone tell me why Taiwo is playing over Nick Greene? I've seen very little since he arrived to suggest he's worth a place in the side, let alone a starting spot.

I have quite strong feelings about Taiwo, i don't think he's up to the job at all. Thought Greene looked decent when he came on last night. Does anyone know why Tanner wasn't in the team last night?

Craig Tanner was ill.
Asher was ill as well, but slightly less ill than Craig, hence him making the bench

Thanks, thought it was something like that, but sometimes you never know.

Was it Corporal Jones who asked Captain Manwaring for permission to start to panic, in one of the Dad's Army episodes ? Kebab Belly Bob asking for permission to panic ! We are back to the same old sad story of going into a game expecting to lose, believing we will lose, and actually losing. It is a long time since we went to a game expecting to win. That is what is worrying me about the FACup match. I really do not feel confident that we can actually go and do the business in this one. Please prove me wrong, lads.

Before the game, a few of our lads were practising shots from almost the half way line. Some of these were quite impressive. The Yeading keeper did like to go walkabout, shame we couldn't embarrass him.

We're rarely able to find each other with 5-10 yard passes, so asking for 40-50 yard goalscoring lobs is asking a bit much I feel....

For me Solomon Taiwo was having his best game for us before he went off.Nick Green is not the answer to our midfield problems.Looked good in pre season against lesser opposition but not so good in conference south. We need some new players without doubt but not that many. Its odd the loanees went back as they were on three month loans! Get a tall strong centre forward and a decent midfield player and we shall be alot better.

Even with our problems a decent experienced striker would be scoring goals given the chances we have created. Its not the total answer but we would be on at least double the points we are now, rather than MarkF and co going to retreive the ball from the park. Its all about coolness in front of goal and Warren is the only one who has it but far to wide to score 20 or 30 goals a season.
