In an effort to find any sort of positive at the moment, at least last night's result keeps St Albans in the mire as well

Thurock won 5-0 so now we are rock bottom,we did not even achieve that when John Rains was here. We were rock bottom for a few days in September 2001. In fact it was exactly this time 6 years ago we were bottom.

What amberay said.
We have talented players out there. There must be reasons why they're not performing. Why they're not always giving 100%. We have to find some way of improving the morale -and hence motivation- of both the players and ourselves.
I was chatting to a Newport fan last night, and he was saying that 2 years ago they were about where we are now. Their supporters' trust decided that rather than sitting on their bottoms whinging, they would do something about the situation. What could they do? Well, they called a meeting for not only the Trust, but all the players and management team too, to discuss the situation. Only constructive criticism was allowed, no mud slinging. The fans said the players weren't giving them 100%, not giving them what they paid their admission fees for. The players said the supporters weren't getting behind them like supporters should. Finally, they agreed that in return for fans getting totally behind the team and giving it their all in terms of support (and no whinging at the players), the players would give it their all on the pitch. After this meeting, Newport's form immediately picked up and soon they were out of danger.
Now I'm not NECESSARILY saying this would work for us, as there are a lot more of them than there are us and when they really want to get behind their team, you can't help but know it. But I do think that we are in a similar situation in terms of what the actual problem is. Morale is dangerously low. Certain players make it clear they don't really want to play for us, and then say actually they will. There appear to be problems with discipline from the management team. Players turn up late and everyone else just waits for them and then carries on as normal. Players just don't make the effort. Fans sit on their arses moaning, or don't bother turning up. The players' state of mind perpetuates that of the fans and vice versa.
We are supporters. The players need our support- that's what we are for. Can we get together and show them that we still have pride? That we still have hope for Sutton United? Come on everyone, we're better than this. How much do we care? Do we care more than to just sit on our bums whinging about how crap we are? Or are we going to get together and do something about it?
It's up to us as well as the players and management. Why do we think teams have supporters?

no supporters no team we pay the wages if the players lack the skill but put in 100%i will not moan but when a player asks to leave then changes his mind when nobody else comes in for him how do the rest of the team feel iask myself when he makes a mistake has he done it because he dont care everybody needs to get behind the team lets make them feel that they are the best and i think 1 or 2 players come in and we are not far short stop slagging of evey cock-up and having a go at Ian then we will start getting the wins we need

I don't believe you should make Lewis a scapegoat. I think he is playing reasonably well although i feel he is too small for a centre back and would play him at left back. The balance of the team is wrong and we need a centre forward who can hold the ball up and bring others in to play.

If Oldman thinks our average gate exclusively pays the wages may I suggest he takes a look at the accounts on the official website? The sentiment about getting behind the team is valid though.

Nobody is making Lewis a scapegoat, but he is a good illustration of the issues behind the scenes that the club needs to work on. As supporters we are part of the club and we ought to let that show.

We shall see. Backs are now against the wall. The spirit of the side will be revealed. An organised and disciplined team with plenty of support is required.
