Well done Filbert and Simon for wading through the Council's website to find this.
Yes, you are both correct, this stage requires the public to comment on the Legality and Soundness of the Council's proposal to redevelope Sutton Utd FC and Collingwood Recreation Park.
Unless people feel minded to challenge the Council's Solicitor and any legal issues regarding the use of this area for redevelopment - and thankfully nobody has so far - the issue here is really about commenting on the Soundness of the scheme i.e. is it a good idea? will it benefit the people of Sutton? is it a sensible use of the land etc.
This is much like reading the bans of marriage or asking "is there anybody here present who knows of any reason why......." but from our point of view it allows us another opportunity to say what a good idea this is.
If you managed to use the online sytem before and can navigate through it again by all means use it but as I have said before in my original post on page 2, just e-mail to the address I have given or write to Jeff Wilson at Denamark Road, again, full address above.
It's so easy. JJ

JJ / DB - have you had any dealings with Daniel Ratchford 'Strategic Director of Environment and Leisure, London Borough of Sutton'? May be worth keeping an eye on this: twitter.com/danielratchford

Just out of interest was the whole of Collingwood recreation ground covered by the bequest of the benefactor that the Senior football team in the borough be allowed to play there?

Just out of interest...
Does that mean 'the most established team in Surrey' could leave their allotments shack and rightfully squat at Gander Green Lane if they got promoted sooner?
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No Carshalton had their own benefactor, and it was the borough of Sutton and Cheam not Wallington and Carshalton.

Your Trust Committee members have been working hard behind the scene together with key members of the Club Board and the Football Plan Development Officer to collate all the various documents and certificates to submit to the Surrey FA as part of SUFC's application for Community Status.
The Surrey FA have been kept fully informed since the highly successful Women and Girls' Football Festival and have indicated that if all goes to plan, our award will be presented to us on 24 April at the last (scheduled) home game of the season v. Billericay.
Separately, the second stage of the Consultation process of the Council Site Development Policies on the redevelopment of Collingwood Rec and Sutton Utd Football Ground finished on 10 March and todate there have been no objections
If we can secure our Community Status, and progress to the next stage of the Council timetable that will leave us the summer close season and the beginning of next to move forward. We will then have to progress funding streams (we already have an application in with the Football Foundation which we hope will be first in line for the next grant allocation in 2011/2012), partnership schemes, youth and girls football and all aspects of the Football Development Plan.
We are working hard to set up our page on the Club's Official website where details of the Plan (and how you can help) and updates on progress will be regularly posted.
As I think everybody knows, this is a well thought out and complicated but joined-up strategy which is not going to happen overnight. We have however, a clear vision as to where this club is going and we are determined to achieve our aims. Aside from the credit the Trust keeps being given for this project we should not lose sight of the work being undertaken by the Club Board and Management and the recent elevation of the Trust to a seat on the Board is an indication of their far-sightedness and commitment to this project.
We have said all along, this proposal is only going to succeed as a 'Whole Club' endeavour and that means everyone involved in the Club JJ

The official site will follow the project but as John states its a complex issue and it involves a lot of new pages leading to a complete rewrite of the community section. These are currently in draft form and once approved they will go live covering all aspects of the community status side of things as well as the stadium/facilities development.

Thanks for the update. Good news regarding the community status and the development would be a massive step forward for the club.

All of this is great news for both the Club and the Comminity. I just hope I get to see the finished article. Well done to all you folks out there who have put so many hours in at all levels. I look forward to the section on "when, where and how you can help. As everyone knows I have too much time on my hands. ;D So much so that I fell asleep and missed last Thursday's AGM.

What do our neighbours at Carshalton Athletic FC think of this?
As they also represent sport in the London Borough of Sutton, could they (or should they) be part of this process?

The process was initiated by and predicated on the need to improve Collingwood Recreation Ground and the shortage of community facilities in this part of the borough, in line with council priorities. Being able to improve one side of the ground is a bonus, it doesn't affect Carshalton.
