Boxing day has gone time to move I think this one will go ahead, a little rain to come but very windy tomorrow and Saturday which will help the pitch dry. Welling are the form side winning all of their last league matches including a win over Salisbury. A win for them could put them top and will take manager of the month award for December. A win for us will surely see the prize heading to PD and would signal our intent. We do owe Welling as apart from or home 4-3 win last dec the luck has gone the way of the Kent side. This included a offside winner at GGL in last season's playoffs. MW to open his league account and U's to take the points ?

MW to open his league account and U's to take the points ? You do have a funny view of matches at times os! We are one of only 3 teams (others being Dover and Bath) who have come away with anything at PVR this season), and last season we also managed 2 draws against them at their place when most other sides lost! I think what you can say about games between the 2 clubs is they are always very hard fought. The home game last season was a very entertaining one, and this is a REAL test compared to other recent games in terms of how much we have improved over the last month. Come away with at least a draw against a side that have not lost in 2 months, including an away victory at Woking in the Trophy would be a massive plus. Our game being called off on Weds may well have worked in our favour. A real chance to show what we can do!!

I grant you they have all been close and hard fought. but we have been unlucky not to walk away with a victory from our last 3 matches with them. The only goal seperating the sides in those games was clearly offside. In the other 2 Welling have been desperate to hang on to a 0-0 draw when we have looked to win them both.

Not sure you're saying anything different to os. We have had close games. We owe them for the play offs where on the balance I thought we deserved it (not that they didn't defend well).

Weather forecast suggests more than just a little rain tomorrow & Sat morning. Not sure that this will be on.

Does seem like you've forgotten how awful we were in the 1st half of the home leg. Yes, the 2nd leg we were heroic but the damage had been done. At their place we didn't deserve a win because we defended like clowns!
Hopefully those issues have been ironed out!

If that corner of our pitch has well and truly gone I guess that with more rain piling on it there's not a lot you can do to drain it this side of a decent spell of dry weather. I know the crew will be out there working on it but like Glastonbury once the surface has gone you can't just bind it back together and chucking sand on it might dry a bit of surface water but one dump of rain and you are just adding to the gloop mixture. From the various reports of why Boxing Day was pulled sounds like this is stuck with us for the foreseeable. Good luck to the ground staff and I just hope the forecast is wrong for the next forty eight hours.

Booked my usual Hogmanay ticket to Edinburgh for today instead of Sat by mistake and it cost me over £100 to change the booking to Sat so I could see the welling game. I am a bit fed up with the weather now!

I really hope I'm wrong, but it would have to be totally dry and windy from now until kick off for the match to go ahead. Having seen that corner of the pitch close up, there is no way the match will be played if we have more of the wet stuff. But I do hope I'm wrong.

Spoke to the groundsman this morning and he is optimistic, the ground being drier than on Xmas day. There is not a lot they can do. But were putting more sand on the bad area.

I think it will be called off not long before KO once again, as there is more rain forecast for tomorrow all afternoon. Strong winds will help but if we do get the game on dont expect a good game with 40mph gusts. Also, it will probably be a pitch ruiner too! Its a bit of a lose lose I feel, although its such a shame to be missing games when the team is in good form, and a real fixture pile up is in the offing.

Millwall wanted to dry their pitch out for boxing day and all they did was roll out these big electric fires and stuck them in the goal mouths. With the millions and millions of pound in the Premier league maybe they should subsidise us? Or at least give the go ahead for 3g pitches? I think I will write FA and Conf and tell them what I think, because I am getting mad now

I've just checked the BBC weather page again and it's not looking good. There's more rain forecast for today, though mostly light and patchy stuff, fizzling out tonight. But there's another belt due tomorrow morning that's expected to turn heavy around lunchtime. If that forecast turns out to be correct then the chances of the game being on won't be much above zero.

I think what will be key is the time it starts raining again but i'm keeping my fingers crossed.
