Don' the 3G pitches have to be replaced after about 10 years at the same price as the initial cost...

Even if they did you'd make a decent profit to be able to replace them over a 10 year period. If and when they become widely used the price is likely to come down in any case as more competition enters the market.
The cricket club also have a water hog type thing which is inexpensive but highly effective at clearing surface water. I'm sure the football club could afford a bigger better version of this if they don't have one already. Whilst clearing the surface water doesn't mean the game is automatically saved it does give things a better chance to dry if it stops raining.

Good drying wind at the moment. The rain forecast has now changed to showers.

So why aren't clubs paying £5k to get these heaters? I find it hard to believe heaters can dry out a football pitch. A better solution for league clubs would be pitch covers when heavy rain or frost is expected.

Bad news I'm afraid, following an inspection this morning today's game has been postponed.

Also you can't leave them on full-time so someone needs to control them to get them to work to their optimum and not kill the grass.

No surprise. Apart from the fixture pile up the clubs cash flow must be taking a real battering. Be interesting to see what other local games make it through.

I have been checking round for alternative watching.
Met Police v Lowestoft is off, as is Hampton & Richmond v Canvey.
Last hope appears to be Tooting v Horsham. Nothing on their web site so far to say it's off, so fingers crossed.

Does anyone remember Clary our groundsman from yesteryear. He would have sorted this out. I can still remember him with his wheelbarrow. I was a ball-boy in those days Perhaps ground crew(american expression) should have their own league table. Then Clary would be in "the groundsman hall of fame. No disrespect to the current guys.
