Can we assume there will be an inspection tomorrow morning?

The problem with your subsidies might lie in the fact that there are hundreds and hundreds of non-league clubs for every PL one! 5k x 200 = 1 million total peanuts to the PL!

With heavy rain due right up to kick off I hope one of the actual match officials will be making a reasonably early inspection so we don't get a repeat of boxing days Hokey Cokey.

Tomorrow's League games at Aldershot, Gillingham and Colchester have already been called off because of waterlogged pitches.

Isn't the hang up the fact that the FA, football league, conference whoever have not approved it for clubs at our level. Surely given the quite huge economic benefits (constant pitch rental, no cancellations, no upkeep of the pitch etc) any club would quickly get a return on whatever the initial investment is!!

The cheapest quote for a 3G pitch I have seen is £300k. God knows we need one at CWUFC!

Also, expecting PL clubs to subsidise this would be a bit like expecting Tesco, Asda et al to donate millions of pounds towards improving local shops and family greengrocers etc because they're not getting enough business to raise it themselves

Isn't it like playing on astro turf?

Isn't it like playing on astro turf? No. Much better surface nowadays. Has to be the way forward for smaller clubs. Turf maintenance is so expensive nowadays.

Nothing like it. It's like playing on grass without the cutting up, bad bounces, reliance on weather, maintenance etc.

I'm no fan of plastic pitches but the way this winter is shaping up even a kick around in the club car park would be a welcome relief

This seems to have gone off at a tangent, my 5k comment was merely a suggestion of heating costs towards drying our pitches and not that of installing a 3G pitch.
I understand from one who knows that one can be installed for less then 250k with a possible payback in excess of 150k per year.
As for the old term astro turf, forget it, today's 3G pitches are a million miles removed from them. A 3G pitch has been used for a full England international, and you don't remember it because you didn't notice the difference. Gus Poyet took his Brighton side to Maidstone's Gallagher stadium and stated it was the best surface his side had played on.
I am 100% certain that within a few years a great many lower league and Non League pitches will be artificial. You may not know but the pitch are the Emirates is half artificial and not the 100% turf pitch that many people believe it to be.
