U's inability to take first half chances and a pretty disappointing second half combined to end their SSC interest this season at the first hurdle.
Still at least it didn't drag into extra time.
Slabs, Sinclair, Taylor and a fine save that thwarted Dundo should really have seen U's in front by half time. Not to say that K's didn't have their moments but Luke Badiali was rarely threatened in the U's goals. U's withdrew Binnsy at half-time and his pace was missed in the second half as K's began to enjoy good possession without creating too much. The goal came when U's overplayed at the back and the ball was only half cleared and Casey was put through and couldn't miss. Tolfrey had made one fine save earlier in the half but that was it.
So K's recorded only their second SSC success at U's since at least WWII, the first being in 1974 when Ted Powell put Dave Roffey in goal and we lost 4-3.
Not sure what the ref was doing adding just 2 mins on bearing in mind the subs and the injury stoppages. Not that another couple would have made any difference. Also Mitch's booking was a joke. The free-kick should have been U's. Poor decision.
I have no idea what happened before the game but let's just say those K's fans that were there tonight are really one sad bunch. Bog roll? Shredded paper? Who spends their time shredding paper for a match that attracted, what, 150 people or worse raided their workplace shredders for the occasion? What a bunch of saddos. Can they not get into their collective one cell that the only big rivalry between U's and K's is in their tiny minds? Banter is meant to be humorous not the abuse they give out but when they get some back they cry like the adolescents they appear to be.
So, it is now Skrill South football all the way and let's hope we can arrest this sticky patch of results starting on Saturday.

So now we really have to concentrate on the league. That's three Cup exits in the space of three and a half weeks. But a first hurdle defeat in the SSC ranks pretty low on the scale of disappointments.
Tonight's match had a similar pattern to the Dorchester game - we looked pretty comfortable in the first half and created a few openings without finding the net, but after going behind in the second we rarely looked like getting back on terms. I'm not sure why Binnsy was subbed at half-time after a bright 45 minutes. Ks were much the more incisive side in the final quarter of the game and that earned them the win.
We're certainly going through a lean spell at the moment - that's no win in seven matches and only two goals scored in the last four. Big effort required on Saturday!

We were ok in the 1st half although as said K's had their moments but we were the better side just failing again to find that final ball. I thought we quite awful in the 2nd half putting together one of the worst 45 mins for a very long while. Long ball time and time again finding a K's head or boot and just loobed back at us, and it was through one of those that we conceded the only goal of the game. I am not sure what drugs the ref was on but no stopage time in the 1st followed by 2mins at the end doesn't make any sense.
I won't go into the Wayne incident but I don't think he hit anyone and the behaviour of some of the K's fans overstepped the mark. Abusing someone because of their weight is no different from racial abuse, it should not be accepted and K's should be reported as they would be in the case of racism.
I couldn't give a toss about being out of this cup, but we need to get back to winning ways.

Paid ten quid. Stood in the cold for two hours. Went home. That was about it really. Nothing to get excited about either on the pitch or off it tonight. Should've gone to watch the Croydon posers against the porn merchants. Plenty of excitement there!

I'm sure Wayne is used to banter about his weight!

Biggest worry must be conversion. Someone said we had 28 chances against Dorch and failed to score and we passed up a bunch of chances last night in the first half that could have put the game out of sight. For me that's the big issue. Got to hope that we bust through the dam on Saturday.

Yes the conversion rate must a bit of a problem that needs to be resolved. Since Nov 2 played 7 matches (all competions) , scored 6 goals and lost lost four of those games.. Lets hope Binns Slabber Taylor & Co can put that right, starting Saturday, cannot afford to drop further behind Bromley.

Only got there for the last half hour, so I'm not going to comment on the K Fans/Wayne Shaw thing.
Two things I did notice thugh 1) We were especially poor last night. From the terraces, we were not up for it at all. From what I saw, Ks deserved the win. 2) Ks supporters probably sang 20% for their own side and 80% for the usual "we hate Sutton" bollocks.
Point 1 is very disappointing, but personally like I said previously, I don't think it's our no1 target this season Point 2 is totally expected and the most disappointing thing were the few Sutton supporters trying to "return the compliment". The crux of their rivalry is really based on the fact that they ONLY care about beating Sutton. Plus the fact we're higher than them. Good luck to them stoking that one up with their toilet rolls and rubbish. I'm quite happy supporting Sutton, rather than "hating" another side, and bearing grudges for years.

They seem to think we regard them as our main rivals

They seem to think we regard them as our main rivals That's because a rivalry isn't a rivalry when it's just coming from one side. They think that because they want that.

Just read that comment and the rest of that thread that suggests some of the other K's fans are not always impressed by their fellow fans.
As for the comment about them being our main rivals, well I refer back to my one cell comment. Appears I maybe closer to the truth than I thought. Our main rivals are Robins even in their current depressed state due to the geographical closeness, i.e. in the same Borough and before that it was Tooting & Mitcham (Athenian and Isthmian League) and for a long time both covered by the same local paper. K's have never been. Yes, it is a local derby but then so is Bromley to a similar point. But main rivals? How desperate must you be in life to need that anyway? Personally, whoever U's play, I want Sutton to win: does who we're playing matter that much, unless you needed to win to win the league or get to the play-offs?

I have never been too bothered about rivalries even the bobbins don't do too much to excite me other then the fact we share the same Borough and we get to read about their Beano antics each week Even if you look past them down the road I would say Wimbledon were our next rivals historically and more recently Bromley. I can even remember a time when Wycombe Wanderers were seen as rivals, but I can't ever say that K's were really on that list or they are now? According to the Oxford dictionary Rivalry means: 'competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field' so last night K's were our rivals but they aren't now. Our next rivals are Maidenhead so me thinks we ought to set about telling them how much we have always hated them

Wimbledon? We've only played them for one season at the same level (63/4). Wycombe, possibly because of Powell and Pritchard (to name but two) but not for many a year now.

I think rivalries like this one are quite important.
If you're ten, that is.
