Sorry Smiffy, you can't condone violence, however much you like someone.
What needs to considered is the use of our stewards. There was always the chance the Ks following would use foul language and try to antagonise the club in anyway they could. Future games with any side that has a poor history should be managed with two stewards to control any possible trouble.

I wasn't there so I don't know what happened, but if people are going to use insulting words against you to cause alarm or distress, which is illegal, and the police aren't going to do their job and maintain law & order, then you're perfectly entitled to take matters into your own hands and respond how you want, IMO. Were these people arrested, or ejected by the club? If not, why not?

With regards to stewards, it seems like you can't do right for doing wrong.
Professional stewards hired against Hemel due to reputation but the view was that it was heavy handed. Now we should have had more stewards for an early round in the SSC.
The incident on Tuesday happened within a couple of minutes of a bunch of K's fans entering the ground and was totally unexpected (nobody could have anticipated that).
Also, when the situation had calmed down, who should have been ejected? The whole lot would have had to go as no one person was going to admit to have said whatever it was that kicked it off.
If we need more stewards, we will need more volunteers to it (form an orderly queue folks!). However, let's not let one unfortunate incident caused by a bunch of idiots from Kingston reflect badly on the people who give up their time on a cold Tuesday night.

A few comments.
Sutton will never ever be in a position to throw groups of supporters out for bad language or abusive songs. It's an impossibility and would likely cause a far worse outcome. This can relate to any set of fans whether Hemel, K's whoever. The only thing that might be expected would be to throw the odd individual out who have been abusive or violent. At non league level IMO it is up for individual clubs to police their own fan group, let them know when behaviour has over stepped the mark and what will not be tolerated. If that is not done and individual offenders continue to misbehave the club has a responsibility to get rid.
For what it's worth, and I wasn't there for the cup game, I think the K's fans generally do not mean any great harm and I have never felt they would get violent at games I have been to. That said I think their behaviour is wrong, their language in a public place in songs is wrong and they bring embarassment to their club. From their standpoint the guys involved will believe they are being funny and they like to get a reaction (though prob weren't expecting Wayne's). Their club need to do better and I think their guys can be made to understand. However from our end I don't think it needs any special treatment, they should be treated the same as everyone else and as is normally done their tiresome, humourless, predictable songs should just be ignored. The best way to shut them up would be to hand out a legitimate beating on the pitch, I'd like our management and playing team to be concentrating on that next time we play them. On this occasion we can't take any sort of moral high ground when a member of a our coaching team has taken a 'heat of the moment' very ill judged decision (for which he has received correct ultimate punishment). We have reacted in the right way. I hope that Kingstonian can for when we next meet. However in the more likely event that it continues then our best course of action would be to stay out of it. If they did change and just vocally supported their side for a full game between us they would receive some credit.

Problem is they are not going to change are they? It is their agenda when playing Sutton. They did it during a pre-season friendly and even turned up when their match was called off and started singing their oh, so original repertoire of melodies. Let's face it when they get excited over a SSC tie, they're not going to stop are they?
As for taking the moral high ground, who at Sutton is? They are just a boring, mindless bunch, who neither appreciate what banter is nor what nl football is generally about with regards to opposing sets of fans. Usually, their sort of approach is because of some provocation from the opposite side but when have U's fans ever provoked them? As I said before, bog rolls and shredded paper for a SSC tie? Moronic and that is not going to change. And wanting to hit a guy 'cos he supports Sutton, what is that all about? 1970's throw backs.

And still a deafening silence from the morally bankrupt Kingstonian club on what actions they will take to stop the moronic behaviour of some of their supporters.
With massive and unintended irony, the match report on their web-site begins "In a week when non-league football again found itself in the gutter ... ". Quite so.

Were these people arrested, or ejected by the club? If not, why not? Forgive me but I'm not sure I understand your logic. Calling someone names is illegal? Taking the law into your own hands and assaulting someone or responding however you want, on the other hand, is something you're "perfectly entitled" to do? What if "how you want" to respond is to rape or murder someone? I'm not being facetious. Some people do respond in that way. You have to draw the line way, way below that.

Well, not their fault about the lack of a home venue that was down to their landlords, although you could go all the way back to their over spending years ago to state that they brought this scenario on themselves anyway.
