If, come the balmy days of late April, we find ourselves in a play-off position then that achievement will have been built on muck-and-nettles performances like this. Not many teams leave the Camrose with three points, and the tempestuous weather made things difficult for both sides, but a fine finish from Jamie T and an assured defensive display by our rearguard earned us the win. Basingstoke saw two efforts strike the top of the crossbar but otherwise had little clear sight of goal. So that's an 100% record so far in 2014 with no goals conceded! Let's see how far into February the team can keep that going.

Two good results but like others I have become slightly disillusioned with all the departures and prior to that the run of appalling home performances that lead to the changes. My main question to those who have seen the two wins - Is our back 4 finally getting some protection? I assume so by two clean sheets. My opinion is that Ali and Rivs were allowed to go because neither of them had done a job protecting the back 4, which is were most of our defensive fragility has come from (you can argue the wings but I still feel this stems from having no midfield anchor). Upset to see both go, especially Ali as he was a favourite of mine, but the two results so far goes a long way to easing that dismay.

My main question to those who have seen the two wins - Is our back 4 finally getting some protection? I'd say yes, and Rhys Weston has a lot to do with that! Also, Alex Wynter looks quality. And, in answer to OS's point about the Camrose looking tired, BTFC are looking to move to a new ground. (See p.15 of the matchday programme.)

I went there last season on the opening day and yes its tired but not GGL levels of tired so we cant exactly wave the finger of ground-tiredness

I'm no sycophant, but I've seen some amazing 0-0 draws.
Scores? You are saying you know at least 40 people locally who say that sort of thing? Very hard to believe.
For a start, I don't believe you have 40 friends.

I don't think our ground is that tired looking. The Camrose needed a good lick of paint to bring it up to its old standard.

I quite like the camrose. Got a bit of character. Mind you. I was glad we had the covered end second half as I'm bolloxed at my age if I'm going to stand in the pissing rain on an open terrace. On the crowds issue note that Stoke had what I think was their biggest gate of the season in shocking conditions against us on Saturday. Part of the footballing experience is coming out of a game like that and not only celebrating the three points but laughing at the mad conditions. For me life would be bloody boring and predictable without a bit of that and if every ground was an identikit concrete box. Each to their own and of course you can always spend the winter in front of the box watching the England cricket team getting their arses handed em on a plate by the Aussies.

Christ, does Billy therefore mean that most of Sutton has been cloned from him? Time to move methinks.
