Weren't expected to get anything from this. Fitness I guess told in the end as playing an hour(ish) with 10 men was never gonna help our cause.

Much more promising display - until the penalty I felt a shock was on the cards.

1-4 does not really give a true reflection of the game, first 20mins when it was 11 v 11 we were by far the better side and 1-0 was the least we deserved. Their penalty was there first real threat on our goal and from the moment we went down to 10 men it was backs against the wall stuff. The defending was top drawer considering the opposition and man deficit, bravery and determination being the order of the second half. It was 2-1 until the 88th min and their 4th goal in the 90th came from an assist off their own post, not sure who struck it but the rebound went 40yrds up field and left them 2 against one a speechless moment. I think JH had one of his best if not best performances in a Us shirt, worked tirelessly all afternoon. We had opportunities to break but really could not find the passes to make the most of them. I got the feeling Warren was not really up for the fight and NG's passing was poor which probably cost us the glimmer of hope we had going into the second half. We missed the width provided by cup tied Dundas and a player like Jon Nurse would of had a field day, but apart from being worried about Warren there is a lot of positives to take from the game today including Harry who was not out of his depth at all.
I believe we can win 2 or 3 on the bounce and then who knows?

I was picking man of the match today, and you wouldn't believe what a hard decision it was. I went for Jack in the end as he managed to hold the central defence together for most of the match in the absence of scooby!
Ref was shocking again, 4-1 flattered the opposition, who quite frankly would have beaten to a pulp by a lot of teams in our division. The last two goals came from us being knackered. You couldn't knock our commitment today, a decent all round team performance. Harry, Ug, Jason and Phil could all have been my man of the match today.
I've actually got a lot of hope for a return to league action next week. Pending suspension to Jason and Scooby could damage us, but the team itself is playing as a team and we did play for pretty well 90 mins today actually looking like we gave a toss, something lacking 6 weeks ago. If I was Ernie, I'd be praising the boys on a good performance. Ignore the score and look at what happened on the pitch, we really didn't shoot ourselves in the foot at all today, and there is a lot that can be taken away from today's game which was very promising.

I agree that 4-1 did not really relect the play. Frankly, FGR were disappointing (even allowing for them resting a couple of players). We took the lead courtesy of a goalkeeping blooper, and they equalised from the penalty spot after a foul by John Scarborough that saw him sent off. With ten men we then held them for half the match before they went 2-1 up. Their last two goals were in the last few minutes - during which McBean hit the post.
There was plenty in today's performance to give us heart for next Saturday.
