I'd look on the result today as being two points dropped, more than anything. When I saw the team today I though that we were going to be in for a pasting, but alas a good all round team performance could and perhaps should of resulted in a win. Thought Goodchild was excellent, and IMO Greene had his best game in a Sutton shirt today. There are many positives to be taken from today, but our next two games are more than must win games.

TBH, I saw today as one of the write off games. Nil points, move on to the 6 pointer next week.
But in hindsight, got to agree with Jared a bit, 2 points perhaps dropped. I thought Eastleigh were very lazy. Maybe came here to the bottom side and expected a walkover, so sacked it off a bit.
Still, it's a point we didn't expect and very handy with the results around us today. Next week is HUGE. A win is really the only result we can take there. Anything but 3 points is no use whatsoever to either side.

Hmm,Hmm,Bognor won 2-1 is that not a bad result for us,it sort of means we are really only trying to catch Welling now to survive, and at the moment they have two games in hand and a 5 point cushion,so next games crucial.

Let's be honest here, it wasn't a great game and yes, there were some positives but comments such as 'great performance' and best performance in U's shirt' are meaningless, we're simply not good enough for this level. Yes, some players have done ok today and we could've won but we didn't, Eastleigh were poor today, ample evidence that we aren't good enough. We have a handful that are good enough and the rest that put in a lot of effort and can't be faulted but this level is too high for what we've got and I'm not trying to take anything away from effort or commitment levels today but let's wise up. It's a crying shame IMO that Sutton have come to this.

We are not one of the 3 worst sides in the division!!!

Agree with pretty much all that`s been said. Stefan Ball looks out of his depth , I hope there is better to come from him as what`s on show at the moment is not good enough. He & CD also need to release the ball, it is afterall a team game. I also think think that whilst to a degree Millsy has a point, even in our forlorn state we have gone close and given higher teams than us a run for their money. Yes we have had a couple of arse whippings but we`ve also had very bad luck and some diabolical refereeing decisions. Players who dont perform but still want the money. If`s and but`s I know. However Ernie has picked up the legacy of a poor manager..........an unmotivated, under performing and beaten side resigned to relegation, and this was at the halfway point of the season which goes to show what a sh*t state we were in !!!! Had Ernie been here from the start we may not have been in the position we now find ourself in. We certainly wouldn`t have been looking at the heady play off spots but mid table wouldn`t have been unrealistic. As a season of two halfs.....1st half...Not worthy, 2nd half...showing promise. In my opinion Ian Hazel has a lot to answer for. The deck is stacked very much against us due mainly to the afore mentioned "nut" and maybe over the whole season we haven`t been good enough. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back to go forward better prepared. We still have a slim chance which is now basically anorexic!!!!!! But stranger things have happened ask any W.Ham or Portsmouth fan.

I must have seen a different game to most people here - I left feeling very dispirited ( and cold).
Yes we fought but we were playing like the away team against a side who did not impress me.
I think this season has shown how dependent we were on Matt gray for inspiration.
that said our form is better than Dorchester's so all hope is not lost

Got to agree with Millsy there. We shall be lucky to survive. What i'm most concerned with is the inability of Ernie to sign the players which are needed. Apparantly no one wants to come to us.

And yet when me and others mentioned what a twit Hazel was we all got slated, but as said above for once its him who got us in the s... we are in,somebody who's in agreement.

It was late night when I replied to Millsy's original post, but to add a couple of things:
Firstly our performance yesterday, why do people suggest the opposition were lazy or poor when Eastleigh are one of the leagues in form sides unbeaten in 2008? Our season has been tough enough without downgrading or under valuing what was an excellent performance particularly from a very young defence. There have been a couple of poor defensive displays since Xmas but basically they are improving in every game conceding just 2 against Newport / Bognor and Eastleigh. If we had a striker like Forest Green had in Fleetwood we would be having this conversations today, and simply if we are not good enough for this level neither are a whole gaggle of other sides around us, are Welling? or Weston Good enough?
Having said that the table at the end of the season does not lie and if we are relegated then we will deserve to be, but that responsibility lays more with poor choice of manager by the club itself then with ability to play at this level.

It has to be said that the previous manager has a lot to answer for but so do some of the players. In so much that some became legends in their own minds and got a little too big for their boots believing that they just had to turn up to win games!!! Sadly if we do go down it wont be for the lack of trying on the part of the current squad, some, who may not have the benefit of playing at this level unlike the so called experienced players, but certainly do not shirk responsibility but roll their sleeves up and have a go instead of whining whilst at the same time holding their hand out for money. There have been numerous comments regarding inexperienced players being fielded, well if the experienced players under Hazel had got their act together then the inexperienced ones wouldn`t be the ones baring the brunt at the moment and as for attracting players to the club......money talks, along with prospects. At this stage of the season players are watching the progress of clubs and unless a high flying outfit come calling they will sit tight and make a decision at the end of the season.

Devil's advocate here, there has possibly been a lack of funds for 2/3 seasons so this has been in the post really, let's not forget that Ernie has a bigger budget then was ever available to Haze and Rains.
