Probably his own view of things I'd guess. We all know he's pretty honest about things so maybe sees the fact he was given a task (ie. keep us up) and it's looking unlikely he'll achieve it as a failure, hence a reason for his position to be questioned.
Have to agree though, by and large it was a virtually impossible task. I don't see any reason for a change. He at least deserves a chance with a clean slate as it were for next season.

The words "under threat" were not actually attributed to Ernie, and we shouldn't read too much into such a hackneyed expression used by a journalist. Any manager whose team is bottom of the table would have to admit to being under some sort of pressure!
What is more telling is Ernie's admission that "at the moment it does not look as if we are going to make it". But he also says "I am not a quitter", which means he expects to stick it out until at least the end of April. I think most of us expect him to be managing us in the Ryman League next season. If we struggle then, his position really will be under threat.

I'd be totally amazed if either Ernie gets the push before the end of the season, or we struggle next year. Ernie's been in this position before and has performed well at Ryman league level on similar resources.

I don't think so, I am sure the club went to great lengths to select what they considered to be right man for job. It was someone who was experienced at this level of football, and not an up and coming manager from a lower level, after all we had tried that. I think if we cast our minds backs to the last season of the Rymans, when we felt it would be touch and go as whether we would reach the top half of the table in order to compete in the new Conference South. Well we made it under JR but have found it a struggle to compete at this level from day one., hence the roundabout with managers. The club h as been treading water for the past few seasons, and you can only do this for so long, before you sink to the bottom. Ernie has come in at a very difficult time, but feel he is the man for the job and will hopefully turn Suttons fortunes around. Have just looked at the number of players who have worn the first team shirt this season it is about 40( incl loan players), and I feel that next season what ever league are in, hopefully it still the COn South, there will be even more changes. Good luck to EH and the boys for the remainder of the season

I'm 100% behind Ernie and really hope he is our manager next season. All managers need time and Ernie has shown in a short space of time, and in difficult circumstances, that he is already beginning to turn things around at the club.

I too am 100% behind Ernie. We need someone like him. I've been very impressed with his attitude this season.

Not been able to get to anything like the number of games I wanted to this season what with work but it certainly seems we've been lifted by Ernie. I for one would be gutted if he goes. Still 27 points to play for don't forget!

I was a lone voice expressing surprise at his appointment suggesting he wouldn't save us.OK he probably won't but i have been impressed by what he is trying to achieve and would be disapointed if he was to go.

IMHO it should be now.
He came in to turn our season around, he failed.
From my understanding he has been given more money than anyone else in recent years, yet the striker he got doesn't get on, the CB he got plays right back so what is going on.
I doubt the board would dream of sacking him, but maybe he needs to take a look at himself and decide he wasn't good enough for the job and do us a favour.
Lets start from scratch (yet again) and see if we get lucky next year.

Fair point but i understand that he hasn't been able to attract players to a struggling club.He hasn't been good enough to save us but i wouldn't be in a hurry to get rid of him as he may well be the manager who gets us back up at the first attempt and i believe he is already working towards that goal.

As I eluded too in my Eastbourne post maybe the management team / coaching staff is not right? Ernie does not look a motivator, we miss the attributes of players like Eddie Akuamoah or even Fearo. It would certainly give me a lift to see people like these back involved in the club and I sure it would help the players too having people around who have been there done it so to speak?
I want Ernie to stay but think the structure or personnel around him should change?

If he can't attract players to the club now, who says he can do it for next season?
But, have we really improved under EH? His major coup was signing Craig D but his other signing cost money & yesterday a 16 year old was preferred to him when the subs were made. Perhaps SB was carrying a knock?
I'm also fed up with the comments EH has made in the paper. He seems to be trying to deflect blame directly onto the players when, as i said in the past when we were struggling under JR, surely it is a collective issue & all involved should consider their performance?
He is the manager & should motivate, comments like "nobody wants to come here" maybe true but their hardly motivational to those that are. He could be a bit more subtle when describing such situations.
I could say more but I have to go!!!

I think we should find a new manager now and start fresh and bring a new era to Sutton United or end up sacking him halfway through next season for not achieving, its happened to JR and Hazel and its hardly put us in a great position, if we get a new manager, someone with links and a motivator starting fresh and can bring in a new squad and even use the likes of our performing youths like Dos Santos, Humphreys, Cuff and Beard then we could have a squad that could be capable of winning promotion in the Ryman Premier and then possibly staying up in the Blue Sq South. The only players i've been impressed with this season are Honey, Dundas, Sammut & Bray, this does say a lot when we take a squad of 16 to every match, if we are going to make a squad that can stay up in the Blue Square South we are going to need a squad of 16 who are committed, put 110% in games and CAN play football, i dislike signalling players out who have not been playing well this season but Rob Hughes, Greene, Scarborough, Goodchild have simply not been good enough and have played the majority of games this season.
Ernie just hasn't made the signings that the club needs in order to progress and satisfy the fans. from the club website: 'Ernie has a network of contacts that should help him to bring the right players to the club if and when he needs to.' So if someone would like to explain? we've needed new players in all positions yet Ernie never got them.
I could go on and on but i hope you've got my point.
