It's great to finally have an answer to the "what if" question but now I have a load more questions! Isn't that ridiculously expensive?
Admittedly I know very little about this sort of pitch. Could someone explain how it maintains weather resistance (or not)?

There were several tweets.
For those without Twitter:
Last few months have been investigating all our options and making sure whatever we do was right for the Club, the supporters and most cost effective as every pound is massive still to us. We were clearly hoping that we could retain the 3G hence my recent twitter profile! However with no vote planned, option B is in place. Our biggest dilemma is losing our community model which we all fiercely believe in. The solution is; Having been advised by industry experts if we get promoted, we will install a hybrid grass pitch in the main stadium. This will allow 25/30 hours of use per week. We are also looking to install the same pitch in Collingwood Rec which combined would give us circa 55 hours use per week the same as we currently have from the 3G. No groundshare,Community Model retained. We have also had extensive meetings regards required ground improvements and everything is achievable if we mobilise the Sutton FC family. We are a fans owned club and we look to the recent example of Stevenage fans raising £600,000 in 6 weeks for a new stand for their club. We require a similar amount for our project. Can we do it? I believe we can and initiatives are currently being thought through. If L2 happens we will be ready for the biggest and most important meeting in the Clubs recent history when we will outline how all of us can contribute.

Exciting plans have been unveiled at @southport_fc. See the changes they are planning to make for the future. ➡thenationalleague.org.uk/southport-reve… I know this is slightly going off track, but when I read articles like this I always wonder why we (Sutton) can’t do this ggl. Without being a snob (I can’t be that having been born in Coventry) our catchment area the borough of Sutton is very wealthy and more prosperous than Southport yet they are building what Iooks on paper a quite beautiful and modern football stadium with the help of their community.

I think one of the catches with Sutton might be that, even though it has a largish and fairly affluent demographic, a fair number of the people who live here, or have moved here, just do so as it's 'quite a nice place to live'. While local loyalty and pride runs deep in some parts of the population in other parts it's not much of a factor. Unlike somewhere like Southport where (I imagine) most of the residents of the town feel a strong sense of belonging. Just a suburbs thing, I think.

Just a thought ,but instead of laying a hybrid in the rec could the 3G be laid there instead or would the cost be prohibitive unless the council assist us ?

I've just had a scan back on the 15 pages on this. Not one person on here mentioned the hybrid solution although plenty of other solutions were mentioned.

Are the lower reaches of the football league permitting hybrids?

Are the lower reaches of the football league permitting hybrids? If they weren’t then I don’t think Dos and the club would may have suggested it somehow...

To my knowledge, hybrids are fine because they contain grass - they're considered more as reinforced grass than as a mixed surface. I think the primary reason that it wasn't suggested is just the cost of them - I don't think any of us considered it financially feasible. Luckily we're run by an accountant

We have seen a new pitch and a new name for the ground .If a Russian "businessman" or an oil sheikh were to offer to give the club a few million on condition that they changed the name of the club and/or it's colours would most of the supporters accept it ? What do you reckon?
