I wasn't one that travelled today, but maybe this is actually a positive thing for the future of 3G pitches. I hope the club can use this to put even more pressure on the EFL.

Are you serious ? Twas ever thus and has been happening since football began. You undertake a 600 mile plus round trip to Barrow on a cold, rainy winter day and are surprised when the game is called off ! Billy on the troll again. Nice work. Doesn't really matter to someone who doesn't attend games I guess I'm just stating the obvious.Barrow play on grass, didn't you know that before you booked it ? Travelling all these long distances to watch non league football is lunacy, you don't have to be there.

I agree with Billy it is a risk travelling to Barrow in January but more disappointed that it was called off so late !

We've had our old pitch passed fit, by a local Ref, in the morning and called unfit, by the Match Ref, before K.O. in our time.

sutton tinted spectacles on here from the majority here i am afraid. all weather pitches are bad for football. i went to sutton v barrow in fa trophy 2 year back ben van den brock winner. how you can say it plays natural is beyond me. hopefully the league stick to their minds and reject all weather again.

As one of the travelling fans who's had to turn back when almost at the destination (with the added complications arising from having to leave the baby at home)...
Come off it, guys. Are you seriously blaming Barrow for the weather? The pitch was playable first thing this morning by all accounts and the rain was far worse than forecast. The postponement was not announced much later than the earliest it could have been. It's not Barrow's fault they are a very long way from us and that we therefore had to get up early and make a long and expensive journey.
As for the pitch, it's daft to imply that they should have one like ours just because we have one. Nobody would have thought to make those comments a few years ago. I am guessing the comments were made to illustrate the fact that while the Football League don't want them it's daft to ban them because of this sort of situation, but when such comments are made in conjunction with what appear to be disparaging remarks towards our would-be hosts, it starts to look like you're saying they are in the wrong for not having one!
Yes we are all frustrated and fed up but let's not make Sutton fans look like a bunch of spoiled whingers.

How often do you get to use your pitch ? Ours is in use 7 days a week with two ground shares including Wimbledon Ladies. The team can train on it ,the juniors can use it and the community can hire it out. Just take a minute to consider all the income you are missing out on or are you so flush with cash it doesn't matter!

I love the all weather pitches, they are so much better than they were many years ago when you had to wait 5 minutes for the ball to come down when it bounced ! If you can't play football on these pitches you might as well pack up,they are tailor made for good players. BUT....grass is still the norm and games will be called off (late) on cold, wet winter days.

We left at 5:15am this morning and got to barrow at 11:20 after travelling for around 7 hours, had breakfast and a pint in Wetherspoons and then the game gets called off, had to pay £25 for a single back to Lancaster and now at Lancaster City FC which funnily enough was a team I said we could go to if Barrow got called off..... we will be trying to get our £100 original train fare compensated but now in a slightly better mood as i can tick off Lancaster City FC.

Never thought I'd say it but I totally agree with billys first post!
Ok obvious frustration has led some posters to post some quite embarrassing things. Hopefully in a few days they will think differently but to blame Barrow for today's nightmare weather is bad form from us.
Plus of course only a ref can call a game off.
We've all been inconvenienced but to point a finger of blame is not only selfish but incorrect.
Get a grip indeed

Just the situation itself and the fact this shouldn't happen anymore. If games being called off at late notice when fans and clubs have spent a fortune getting there is how it's always been, then so is annoyed fans letting off steam about it. Nothing to get a grip about, people are entitled to be cheesed off
