Think it’s a bit harsh to blame Barrow for calling the game off. What is hilarious though is the claim made by a visiting poster that the pitch at Holker Street is one of the best in the league. I have visited Holker Street over 10 times, mainly whilst I lived in the Lake District for over 25 years and it is consistently a ploughed field. It is rolled over and over and over until the water has nowhere to go. It is laughably poor for a National league ground and if poor grass pitches will continue to be the norm in the NL, the league should look at drainage standards, because Barrow now have a strong track record of multiple postponements per season. can you give me stats of these multiple postponements per season please?

Particularly enjoying that you didn’t deny your pitch is a ploughed field.
Maybe Casson can invest in the pitch and an irrigation system or soak away, rather than spending all the money on wages. Or even better, get a quality 3G surface. I’m sure Dos could introduce a quality option for you.
Saying that, with Barrow it doesn’t really matter what the surface is. The ball is in the air more than on the pitch.

Admittedly, I didn’t go to a single Barrow game in 2015, or indeed 2014. However I went to at least a game a season in every other year prior back to 2007 and the pitch was consistently dreadful. If you think 3G is worse than that, you are having a laugh. Enjoy your evening though, as well of your Groundsman of the year 2015 award.

Take that as an apology for our multiple postponements that you stated. Fylde with thier new fancy ground had more off and abandoned than us. 3G argument will always go on,and I haven’t mentioned it. strange how the only fans of it are the clubs that have it though.

Yeah funny isn't it. Almost as if they've seen the benefits and realised how good they are!

Having been birdwatching on the north side of Morecambe Bay this morning, about fifteen miles east of Barrow, I'm surprised at the claim that the weather was worse than expected. There was light rain for about two-and-a-half hours, not the heavy stuff that had been forecast. If Barrow's pitch couldn't withstand that then it must have been in a pretty sorry state to start with. Of course it's possible that the rain was much heavier in Barrow than where I was. But I doubt it. Naturally, I'm putting the unexpected time to good use by embarking in a pub crawl of the Furness peninsula. ☺ Looked at the rain radar plot for the area and nothing very much appeared to go through this morning, much more further south. Perhaps what they did have topped up what had gone before!
