It’s not up to barrow as to when the referee decides to turn up. Believe it or not it’s up to the ref and the league rules I believe you can get a pitch inspected earlier if there is any doubt. Been there a few times, as I said earlier it happens. We don’t like it but it happens. i dont carry on like you lot about it.

Your pitch is so bad we wouldn’t be able to tell the difference anyway. But as we discussed a while ago it’s not is it.

No you can't control the weather and i'm not moaning about it being postponed.Just wondering if you could have let the travelling fans know earlier.

They announced it straight away.

I don't think there was a significant delay.
On the other hand, Barrow fans, you'd do well to pay a lot less attention to the moaning. You must surely understand that people are seriously pissed off about the amount of time and money we've wasted today- of course we're moaning. People say things when they're pissed off that they might not normally say. Let us have our hissy fit and move on. We know it wasn't Barrow's decision.

I don’t have an issue with Barrow at all. Not their fault. I just don’t know why the ref called it off when he did. We were all there or nearly there. It had stopped raining and there was 3 and a half hours to kick off so he might as well have waited until closer to kick off to see if there was any possibility of the game being on.

Can I just say that comments looking for compensation are possibly the funniest thing I've ever read on Amber Planet.
Someone call Slater Gordon quickstep!

Anyone who does away travel, like myself, has decisions to make at this time of the year.I decided not to risk this one and,as it happens,I was right. Could just have easily been wrong and ended up pissed off that I had missed the game. I have been both right and wrong many times over the years. Just one of those things. Annoying I grant you but not worth getting all upset about. Now we have progressed, once again,to national, rather than regional, level it does make the problem worse.

We left at 5:15am this morning and got to barrow at 11:20 after travelling for around 7 hours, had breakfast and a pint in Wetherspoons and then the game gets called off, had to pay £25 for a single back to Lancaster and now at Lancaster City FC which funnily enough was a team I said we could go to if Barrow got called off..... we will be trying to get our £100 original train fare compensated but now in a slightly better mood as i can tick off Lancaster City FC. Did you enjoy the Giant Axe Ryan?if you went into Town I hope you didn't go in the Bobbin!!Funnily enough I thought of you as I went to Aggborough to see Kiddy play Southport.

Yeah I did enjoy the Giant Axe, decent set up and great fans! Nah we didn’t go into town unfortunately, just waited at the station for 2 hours for a train after the game to go back to Preston and aha Lucky you, I won’t get to go there which is the shame but going Halifax is better 👌

I didn't make the trip up to Barrow today but have been following the comments both on here and twitter.
All irrelevant now I guess but If the pitch was deemed playable at 9am didn't anyone at Barrow think to double check the forecast for the coming hours leading up to kick-off - seeing that another downpour was due mid-morning couldn't some pitch covers have been laid?

As one of the travelling fans who's had to turn back when almost at the destination (with the added complications arising from having to leave the baby at home)... Come off it, guys. Are you seriously blaming Barrow for the weather? The pitch was playable first thing this morning by all accounts and the rain was far worse than forecast. The postponement was not announced much later than the earliest it could have been. It's not Barrow's fault they are a very long way from us and that we therefore had to get up early and make a long and expensive journey. As for the pitch, it's daft to imply that they should have one like ours just because we have one. Nobody would have thought to make those comments a few years ago. I am guessing the comments were made to illustrate the fact that while the Football League don't want them it's daft to ban them because of this sort of situation, but when such comments are made in conjunction with what appear to be disparaging remarks towards our would-be hosts, it starts to look like you're saying they are in the wrong for not having one! Yes we are all frustrated and fed up but let's not make Sutton fans look like a bunch of spoiled whingers. Well said

I've just been having a look at the Barrow fans' forum. Quite a lot of discontent there about yesterday's postponement, and sympathy for the travelling Sutton contingent. They seem a decent bunch.
Anybody thinking of going up for the rearranged match might want to keep 13/14 March clear. I've no inside information, but Tues 13th looks the most likely date.

Well, that was fun. Wasted day, waste of money and for what to put up with one Barrow fan being less than admirable on here (no surprise) and another who thinks 3g pitches haven't moved on from the 1980's mat on a slab of concrete (I have just heard the wheel has finally arrived in Barrow)?
I had a feeling this would happen. A pretty wet week followed by predicted heavy rain (don't buy Barrow's "heavier than expected" comment on their website) surely a bit of local knowledge could have been brought into play here? And if we had played, would it not have ruined their pristine playing surface (chuckles)?
Some factual incorrectness here too, as the ref only got with an hour of Holker Street before the FA Observer sent him a photo of the pond and agreed the postponement. If he hadn't we would have all made it to Barrow and that might have got a bit ugly.
If only the match ref cam postpone a fixture then I am afraid this will continue to happen. It's not only the Premier League where the fans don't matter to the football authorities. Still, we could have been Charlton fans and a lot of them would have been in the ground when there match was called off.
One of our number (not Steve H) did make HS and spoke to a couple of Barrow's match day staff who were "disappointed" with their club's approach to the situation, apparently. Take from that what you will.
As for how many Sutton fans were travelling, does it matter if it was 120 or 60? Nope.
Have to say, disappointed with some on here slagging off their fellow fans for having the audacity to have a gripe about this. Hardly surprising is it? And Billy, well, he won't even venture to the bottom of his front path these days so lunacy to him would be actually making it to the KCS let alone Barrow.
