Now's about the time that league start seeing who is likely to feature in play offs and relegation, and in steps 1-3 the most likely side to be the first to be relegated are a team not only we faced last season, but beat us last season, Ferriby, who have won once this season, will be relegated a week on Saturday if they fail to get anything out of their next 2 games (v Bradford PA and once-leaders Salford City). They have a total of 9 points all season.
Another side on 9 points is another former opponent of ours, Gosport Borough who have had a mighty fall from grace since we beat them 2-0 two seasons ago on the way to the title. After finishing a respectful 9th that season in the VNL South, then were relegated the following season and now sit at the bottom of the Evo-Stick South. Amazingly however their fate is far from sealed. Due to the leagues restructure next season, only 1 side will suffer relegation and they are only 3 points behind Dunstable Town with 2 games in hand! Those two teams together have conceded a combined total of 220 goals in 68 matches!
There are a couple of sides however with less than 9 points so far. Shoreham at the bottom of Carshalton's current home of the Bostick South have 8 points (but however have had 6 points deducted this season), 13 points below the team above, one of our SSC opponents Molesey. The other is Arlesey in the EvoStick South East, also on 8 points, but have had no points deducted. They're 12 points behind the team above them.
In terms of sides "pulling away at the top" there are a couple already. In the Evo Stick SW, Taunton are 13 points ahead of Salisbury, our old friends at Hornchurch are 13 points ahead of Bowers and Pitsea in the Bostick North, Bashford are huge 22 points ahead of Alvechurch in the Evostick First South (albeit having played 3 games extra) and another old opponent of ours, Altrincham are 9 points clear at the top of the Evo-Stick. Of course Billericay are only 1 point ahead at the moment, but have 5 or 6 games in hand over others they could easily be double figures clear as they catch up (even if it would be very amusing if they contrived to lose those games in hand!)
In the VNL divisions, Salfords huge lead has gone and Harrogate have taken their place at the top on goal difference, whilst in the South, Dartford lead Havant by 3 points, having played 3 games more.

Does Thurrock folding mean that nobody goes down from their division or an extra team come up or what the What? Sorry if that's a daft question and I've totally misunderstood the situation

Sorry if that's a daft question and I've totally misunderstood the situation Good point - if that's the case it's Burgess Hill town that get saved at the moment. The Thurrock thing isn't quite cut and dried yet though. The owners of the club (who owned it from the start) are selling up, and the estate agents in charge of the sale have said they have had a couple of enquiries from parties interested in football being an ongoing concern. Although the more cynical side of my brain will think that the "best offer" will come from developers who don't have that as their primary interest. Bit more info here www.thurrockgazette.co.uk/news/16036057.Thurrock_FC_officially_up_for_sale/

Having not followed the National North and South too closely of late I was susprised to note both Salford and Dartford have recently surrendered their leads to Harrogate and Havant respectively. Indeed Havant can further increase their lead at the top of the division tonight when they host Wealdstone.

Indeed Havant can further increase their lead at the top of the division tonight when they host Wealdstone. And at the bottom of the North, Ferriby are likely to have relegation confirmed within the next 7 days. If they fail to beat Darlington and the aforementioned Salford on Saturday and Tuesday respectively they are down regardless of other results - the first team in steps 1-4 to suffer that this season.

Thurrock confirm their resignation from the Bostik. Apparently the bottom team(Tooting the way they are playing) will still go down and an extra promotion place available for the division below

Chester are confirmed relegated from NLP Great day for the robins , promotion assured, nice to see a team attacking instead of ‘ parking the bus ‘. Back to the level we should be. Teams will come next season looking at getting 3 points from a promoted team ... big mistake . Title in our hands , roll on ramsgate Tuesday

No need for that Ryan. At least it's local to us and maybe of interest to some.
