Shambles at the back. Playing 4 centre halves - two of them as full backs - does invite the question 'how quick are you?' The answer today was not quick enough and not even in the race. It has been a leaky formation since we tried it. Every time Bromley counter-attacked Collins and John were stranded upfield. At Bromley this season we pulled a stroke on them - fielding neither Dundas nor Lafayette and going with a smaller more mobile attack. They pulled a stoke on us today exploiting our inability to sprint back in defence.
Getting caught out once is understandable but somebody at the back has to learn the lesson and prevent all 4 defenders going forward to meet dead ball kicks. I am not convinced by Louis as a defender in any position other than the 2nd centre half, taking orders from the first centre half.

Surely playing for 2nd / 3rd now...
Of the 3 teams at GGL today Bromley were comfortably the best and Sutton not the worst thanks to an utterly appalling and bizarre effort from the officials. The chalked off Bromley goal was inexplicable and whether (in failing to red card Jamie B) the ref felt he should even things up by sending off JC I can only wonder, but with the TV cameras in attendance it was clear that there was nothing that merited even a yellow (or even a foul!) and it was the Bromley player was guilty of kicking out.
All that said we were poor all afternoon with zero threat from the flanks, no balls in to the box to trouble the defence and almost no 2nd balls won. Its inevitable that there will be tiredness for a p/t team over a 46 game season and that seemed to be the case today.
Onwards...I'll be at Fylde to hopefully watch us bounce back!

I won't say much about today but I will say it wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I decided to travel 450 miles to watch the game.
Best forget it. Looking forward to Fylde!

I am loathe to seem too critical because the season has outweighed all expectations and the last 18 months have been the best time ever to be an SUFC fan. However in truth that was not the performance of a team destined for the FL. We looked unbalanced in our shape and playing four centre halves across our back line is simply not going to get us where we need to be. JC has been great for the club but he is not a full back and in my opinion nor is Louis. Consequently we have no width from the back nor do we have any pace or ability to create overlaps. Poor performance, realistically trying to secure second place now for me but that in itself would be a fantastic result.

Dreadful performance. Congratulations to Macclesfield. Would like to see Collins back in the middle with Thomas and the other Thomas back in. I’m assuming Collins can get the red card rescinded! Can’t think of a single player who won their individual battle. Personally I would like us to go back to the formation that was winning games. We have been poor since Maidstone. Bring Collins back into central defence and play Asward Thomas at left back to give us some mobility. Bring back Lafayette as he offers more than Harrison and reinstate the balance on the flanks by bringing back Kieron Cadogan. What has he done to not get on the pitch ahead of Stearn?

I'm really glad others are seeing things how I am. I've been frustrated for a little while by our performances at home.
We seem to be more focused on containing opposition then them containing us. Four CBs?. Been moaning about it since I first saw it used at home. Away from home fine but not at home.
Four CMs tucked in and one man wide. A striker who isn't most energetic nor mobile left to plug away on own up top. It doesn't work imho vs better sides. For me we need to get width in our play, two full backs or at least one and play with another striker or creative player.
In saying all of the above 11 men were sent out to perform and sadly Bromley looked stronger, fresher and hungrier.

Forget the refereeing. That was abysmal and totally unacceptable from every single Sutton player today. A total and utter embarrassment.

Today was gutting, nothing more to be said.
We need to shape up FAST if we want to stand a chance in the playoffs.

Utterly dismal. Wish the Lady Godiva had been shut today. Only positive was that we won the abysmal refereeing decisions 2-1. Butler should have seen red, the 3rd Bromley goal should have stood...but the Collins sending off was bizarre. Fight on to make sure of 2nd/3rd based on that. Disagree Butler made a genuine attempt to get the ball so YC was a correct decision

Well done Bromley better team on the day...decision to only give Butler a YC was correct however the Bromley disallowed goal and JC sending off were totally shocking decisions.

Some bizarre goings on there today.I think a lot of supporters have been spoilt in recent years.Sutton United are in a great position.Even to be near the playoffs with a chance of getting in to the football league is incredible.

Congratulations to Macclesfield. It's their title now. Not just on this one game but we've been limping for a while. Maidstone I thought was the nadir, but I was wrong. Today tops it. Unless we are told that x number of players were playing with injuries, there were no mitigating circumstances to explain the result or performance today. The sending off made no difference we looked poor for the entire game and there wasn't even a decent 10min spell.
I don't know what's been happening the last couple months but something isn't right. We need to shore ourselves up...not just to secure a decent play-off spot but to go into the play offs with some momentum. If the play offs happened tomorrow we'll be out at the first hurdle.
Can someone point to me some positives from today because I'm struggling to find any..

Some positives are that the club and the ground are not ready for the step up to league football and there is every chance we could go up and come straight back down having spent a fortune on two new pitches and ground improvements.
