Looked a little bit one dimensional I thought today, recent form showing that a little bit of tiredness in the players I think. Is tommy wright injured or just a tactical decision as I thought he’d start our last two matches being our top goalscorer. I’m sure the lads will be prepared for the final few games and push on more than ever and react after today’s game

Had to be content with watching on BT sport as now living in Derbyshire; just glad I didnt bother to make the trip! We all trust Dos Ian and Micky in their tactical decisions but as mentioned several times here in this thread, why oh why are we playing at home (or away ) with 4 centre halves ; Collins and John will always get caught out for pace ; we are playing them out of position and its not fair on those players ; the opposition have rumbled this! We must revert back to 2 wing backs ie AT and whoever else otherwise even 2nd or 3rd place may elude us which would be a shame given the tremendous efforts to get us so close.
Come on Us!

Disagree Butler made a genuine attempt to get the ball so YC was a correct decision Erm...aside from the fact he didn’t, as far as I know that’s not in the Laws of the Game. Rules changed regarding red cards in penalty area at beginning of the season... it is seen enough punishment to have already given the penalty away.

Yep, nobody has a leg to stand on trying to say Dos and the team aren't working a miracle but we are all allowed an opinion. The last month or so we've been very unbalanced and nobody can tell me JC is a better full back than Thomas or Spence. A bit if pace up front and we have big problems. Hopefully we can get it together and secure 2nd or 3rd.

We've had better Easters! An abandonment on Good Friday followed by today's lamentable showing in front of the BT Sport cameras would seem to have entombed our title challenge. Any faith in a Chester resurrection at Macclesfield turned out to be misplaced.
This game will be remembered for the shocking decisions by the match officials, and I'm sure that we'll hear a lot more about those once a certain south coast resident has gathered his thoughts. But the refereeing mistakes didn't determine the outcome of the match, and shouldn't disguise the poverty of the performance by the Sutton team.
Bromley sat deep and set out to catch us on the break. As has been noted above, we lacked width, with Tom B again the only natural winger in the starting XI. Perhaps that's why Louis and Jamie C felt they had to push forward so much from the full back positions. That approach might have borne fruit if the players had got some precision into their crosses. But there were too many hopeful lobs into the opposition area, invariably either collected by David Gregory or cleared by his defenders.
In the second half, with Ross S on for Harry, we looked better balanced, while replacing Simon W with Tommy showed a commitment to attack. But by then we were chasing the game, two set-piece goals having given Bromley a cushion, and they continued to play the better football. They had a legitimate goal chalked off but did eventually score a third. Despite a late spell of Sutton pressure, it would be hard to argue that the visitors were flattered by 3-0.
We are still second, and home defeats for Aldershot and Wrexham provide some consolation. But Macclesfield are now nine points ahead, and, although we have that game in hand, we've surrendered our superior goal difference.

Well, there seems to be a consensus that playing four center halves across the back is problematic.
Thought Bromley's keeper had a decent match.

Disappointed sums up my feelings & certainly Dos's in his after match interview on BT. Having had the benefit of watching the match back i feel that Harrison should have shot after 4 minutes instead of trying to place the ball.A natural striker would do that without hesitation. 1-0 Sutton different game entirely. Beckwith should have cleared the ball when it came into the box and they would not have scored. On such moment matches are decided but it was bizarre that we left no one back to defend after we had a corner !
I have no problem with the back four unlike others and think they are doing well.
I would like to wait until Tuesday week before conceding the title to Macclesfield as two wins for us against Fylde & Halifax together with two defeats for Macca at Ebbsfleet & Boreham Wood would throw the title race open again.
Let's still be positive despite today.

Whilst disappointed Sutton have been a non league side forever. Do I want promotion? Noif it changes the ethos of the club. It has already changed for the worst in that we now have segregation. What is disappointing though is that we could have pushed Macclesfield all the way. Do I expect many points from two difficult away fixtures before our next home game? No.

Like others have said the 4 centre backs tactic strikes me as bizarre. It made some sense on the York Rd quagmire buy didn't really expect to see it today and dos has got his selection wrong. It seems to be to accommodate beckwith but ever since his return we've been leaking poor goals and I don't think he's good enough for a top half conference team. All 3 of today's goals were dreadful from a defensive standpoint, as have most we've conceded lately. Basic 6 yard box defending and marking that would be a worry at Sunday league level let alone ours.
Bromley were indeed one of the best organised teams we've faced but we played into their hands and made it far too easy. However, if beautyman had put away what was our golden chance it's anyone's game at 1-1, but at 0-2 it was over as our opponents were perfectly set up to defend a lead.
So, we're hanging on to 2nd as most of the sides in the play off positions have hit a bad run of form. Into the fortress of fylde we go, and some serious work on defensive shape is required if we are to get any kind of result there. I can see one or both of fylde / ebbsfleet storming the playoffs and unfortunately we have to go to both! I heard several Bromley fans loudly querying how we are 2nd, along with all the tens of folk watching at home no doubt,so it's up to the team to respond and show everyone we are a much better side than we've appeared recently.
Regards the red card my companion said he saw a retaliatory stamp from jc.I reserve judgement until the highlights are out.

What I can't understand is why a reasonably efficient defensive unit was broken up to bring Beckwith in. I thought it looked vulnerable against Chester and was surprised to see it used again. It's also interesting that John has played most of the season at right back and this is the first time anybody's questioned his ability there. Personally I think he's had an excellent debut season in that position, and his inclusion in the England C squad would tend to confirm that. However, I thinks he's looked tired for the last half dozen matches or so but given this is probably the most games he's ever played in a season that's not surprising. Lastly, the sending off, from where I was it looked like Collins kicked out at the player on the ground, so I wasn't at all surprised. Hopefully TV replays will prove me.

Always difficult to criticize when our team is in such a wonderful position, so I wont. Bromley deserved the victory today, for what ever reason we were simply no at the party. Another one not there was the ref, who just about got every important decision wrong, and in some style. I do think that we are missing Bailey, and that is 8 goals conceded in 2 and a half matches, although 3 of them didn't count they still went in, and is something that needs looking at.. No grumble from me, the team has done well enough over the season to deserve a break when they do put in a poor showing. I am sure their pride and ability will see us through

Erm...aside from the fact he didn’t, as far as I know that’s not in the Laws of the Game. Rules changed regarding red cards in penalty area at beginning of the season... it is seen enough punishment to have already given the penalty away. I thought the distinction was accidental versus deliberate. It would be quite generous to describe what happened today as accidental.

We would not normally do this so early but as the match was on live TV today, we have decided to show you the JC incident now so you don't have to wait for the highlights:

It was the most astonishing sending off i've ever seen.Collins did nothing wrong whatsoever. He actually untangled himself and walked away, while doing so the Bromley player took two tame swipes at him with his legs.
It seemed to be given by the nosey parker fourth official who called the ref over and told him a tale.It was farcical. The referee should get a ban !
