The BBC's coverage of non-league football is the biggest joke of them all. the website coverage is not great - granted. But their local radio commentaries are excellent. No one in broadcasting terms has covered the non-league games for longer than the bbc and every week you get live commentary on NL matches. I started that way in 2000. Hopefully BT sport stay interested for some time. Never let it be said that local radio coverage of non league football is anything short of excellent. I was referring exclusively to the BBC website's consistently dire coverage, and I am happy to make that distinction explicit.

Anyone who lives outside the smoke is treated to excellent NL coverage by BBC local Radio. I am in Kent, and I hear daily all local Kent sides mentioned, and they always have live commentary from at least 1 National league match featuring a side in Kent. There is good case to get BBC Surrey to take over coverage from BBC London, Bromley and Welling are both covered by BBC Kent although both are technically within Greater London? I have always thought that as club we should put pressure on BBC Surrey to adopt us, maybe a petition

Exactly. Three Counties Radio must be confused as anything. Edit: Just realised the Three Counties doesn't include Hampshire. Or does it? I've confused myself.

Ruddy Amazing! A thread about the U's first foray into the Glasgow hinterland, or Buckie triangle as JMC knowingly calls it, and we have a page full of discussions about local radio around Aldershot.
Excuse me for returning slightly nearer to the topic. Should any of our supporters read this while facing a long train journey South from Glasgow and wonder about a book, try anything by Christopher Brookmyre. Thrillers and side-splittingly funny at the same time, with a glossary translating the local slang into English. And don't forget your souvenir tin of shortbread - they're not making it any longer.

When I can’t get to our games I do read the bbc sport website report and more often than not it’s totally inaccurate. So to be frank i’ve stopped now.

BBC Surrey cover Aldershot despite them not being in Surrey in any fashion (Please don't start the Surrey/London debate again). BBC London have so many other teams that they couldn't give a damn about us SURREYU from my personal experience bbc London are too busy for us, it’s when we make some sports news that their interest perks up (that gets my pissed) bbc Surrey (I started there) and that’s who we should target if as a club we want continuous bbc coverage. Non-league wise they cover Woking, Aldershot and Farnborough.

Sutton are up for the cup – 850 miles away in Scotland by Marcus Tyler South London’s leading non-league football club is up for the cup tomorrow – in Scotland. Sutton United’s most loyal fans face a 846-mile round trip to see the game, all the way to the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie, where their team is to face Airdrieonians in the second round of something called the Irn Bru Cup. Someone better tell whoever wrote that headline what "round trip" means or we'll be playing the game somewhere between the Faroe Islands and Iceland and it will be very wet and cold.

Apart from the fact that we won the Anglo-Italian cup and are the only English club to have done so. Er, except for Swindon, Blackpool, Newcastle and Notts County.
Sure we did it when it was semi-pro entries from the English side of the equation (and incidentally introduced me to the club as a supporter), but we can't entirely re-write history and claim we hold the monopoly as English winners of that particular competition.

I think VCLXI must have been thinking of the Anglo-Italian semi-pro tournament, of which we were indeed the only English winners. Not so relevant to the current competition, since that isn't a semi-pro tournament.
