To clarify, SUFC is the only English winner of the Anglo-Italian Trophy which was a semi-pro competition and not to be confused with the Anglo-Italian Cup which was a competition played for by clubs from the Football League and their counterparts from a similar level in the Italian system.
They are not the same comp.

For the record, Airdrieonians 0 Sutton 1.
The answer to the question about relative standards was that there wasn't much in it, Tommy Wright's ability to beat the last defender and then finish proving to be the difference between the sides.
Ross Worner played his first game for Sutton since the season before last, making one vital save near the end.
Tommy played in front of a five-man midfield until being substituted, with Tom B then assuming the lone striker's mantle.
This was a rather scrappy game in which the ref showed several yellow cards but also let a number of robust challenges go unpunished. Not great as a spectacle, but a historic occasion for the Sutton fans. The away attendance was given as 101.

I enjoyed every second of it, and for 101 of us it was very noisy. Now attempting to drink Edinburgh dry but if one more local asks if my scarf is a Motherwell one I’ll get mildly miffed.
Bohemians away in the next round please.

58 folk watching in the Player's bar (I think). Should've opened the bar, Kiddo! Small bottles of Fosters and Bulmers, although at £2 a touch, not to my taste!

Queens Park knock TNS out so Sutton’s chance to play at Hampden Park lives on

Another fantastic entry in the history of Sutton United Football Club. Everyone put in a shift but it was Tommy Wright's class that was the difference between the sides.

Just returned home (8.30) Tommy was superb yesterday however the big difference was in defence, our back five were a class above Airdrie.

Arrived back home in Shrewsbury 23.15. It says much about the 'Sutton United Community' that so many travelled to Airdrie for this game - goodness knows how much we spent between us! The report on the club site is very good - will just add that Tommy Wright 'ran his socks off'and thoroughly deserved his goal. I think the Airdrie support was surprised by the vocal support given to United. We had a very friendly chat with some Airdrie supporters before the match who were genuinely impressed by our efforts to get to the match. On my train back from Haymarket I got chatting to two suppporters of Connah's Quay who had been to the Falkirk tie - they want a trip to Hampden as well! It was great to catch up with friends and supporters once more. Now for the draw for the next round...

I'd like Queens Park at home... History dictates that we'd be odds on to get a 'walk over'.
