What would happen if Sutton United were to say thanks, but no thanks,we lost fair and square ? Would Bromley play Spennymoor or would Spennymoor get a bye ?

77th minute he came on. You can certainly change a game in 15~ minutes. I don't have any sympathy, they had a bunch of other loan players playing so they can't plead ignorance

If you've got a piece of paper from the parent club granting permission for the loaned player to play in the competition, they can play.
If you don't, they can't.
It's not landing a lunar module on the far side of the moon.

Gift horse in mouth. I have sympathy for their fans, who would be justified in being rather angry with their club officials. I don't agree that it's a difficult job to ensure you're playing the correct players. It's just basic admin and if you made a mistake like that working for most employers I'd imagine sympathy would be in short supply. I believe going back to 1950 the Scots refused an invitation to the WC because they didn't feel it was right to attend, having only finished second in the British championship. Sorry, but that is a losers mentality and I don't want to see that attitude from us.

True Story, 'no names' what the FA are like: Player X gets sent off, video shows that red to entirely wrong, no argument appeal will be successful. Appeal day, time to file the paperwork, FA website is down, it will not accept files. The FA state they are aware and it will be back up in the afternoon. So it is, and paperwork is uploaded as soon as. Appeal rejected, received passed the 2PM deadline. You see when the FA say something has to be filed by a certain time, they mean it has to be filed by a certain come hell or high water, even if you have to deliver it by hand.

Get over it, we beat you twice this season. That's not what the record books will show.. Hey! For the benefit of any Bromley fans accessing this blog. Sutton fans will have sympathy for your disappointment and I am sure Smith and the Bromley players will be really saddened and annoyed at winning the match, then on a rule breach going out of a tournament you have done well in. Particularly as nobody on the playing and coaching staff will have been responsible for the error, or the player would not have been on the team sheet. But as far as Sutton are concerned, the FA have been even-handed in applying their rules to us this season. Our FA Youth Cup team won on the pitch a match which got them paired with Man City's youth team in the next round. You can imagine how excited the club was at that prospect. However, Sutton had played an ineligible player - a previous club should have got his International Clearance, but hadn't. Sutton did not notice - tough, that was held to be our fault. Therefore Sutton's youth team were thrown out and their beaten opponents re-instated. Rough on the players again - we know. Sutton have had a lucky reprieve in a cup that for cash reasons we were hoping to have a run in. Let's hope we grasp that opportunity.

That's a strongly worded statement from Bromley who have had a couple of digs at Sutton (even if indirectly) and seem to be blaming all but themselves.
The ineligible player has been with them months so they have little excuse with regards not supplying correct paperwork. One wonders if he was ineligible for the FA Cup too although no idea if he played in it.
Certainly not harsh as it is a breach of competition rules irrespective of how long he came on for. So, after their clamour over one sub on NYD another ends their Trophy hopes.
Their fans, players and management must be well pissed off but football ain't just played on the pitch as anyone who has held an admin role at a football club would know (which, if memory serves, includes Billy).
