Les took over in '87, a role he retained until 2002. It was a Holden era for British television. Ah but he didn't take over from Bob did he now...

The legendary Max Bygraves was the perineum host betwixt Bob Monkhouse's thingummy and Les Dennis' youknowwhat. I forgot about that. They don't call you Andy "Special" K for nothing...

Maybe we should end this unhappy thread with views on Dos from Maidstone fans.... Sounds like the Sutton budget is probably about the same or less than Stones. Just shows how it can be done ! Ironically, the squad JS put together at the start of the season was I think his first step in trying to emulate what Doswell had done in assembling a core squad that would be around for multiple seasons. Paxman, Richards and Turgott are the only survivors of that idea (and I doubt JS really thought Blair would stay for multiple seasons to come) *** Shame our core group weren't even close to the standard of player Doswell manages to sign at Sutton. I dunno how he does it, but he somehow manages to put together good teams on small budgets. Meanwhile we seem to proper struggle attracting decent players to sign for us. I only wish more of our own supporters understood it.

I only wish more of our own supporters understood it. One more from their forum: Very interesting and honest interview. I have a lot of time for Doswell, fantastic manager and hearing him speak about the turnover of players each year and loss of your best players yet still remain competitive and stable in the league shows how important a quality manager is to a club. If Sutton lost him I suspect they would be in a similar situation we currently face. Read more: maidstoneunitedfc.proboards.com/thread/8169/josh-taylor-signed?page=2#ixzz5bdNOIsya

Anyone unhappy with another single goal win 2 - 1 at home?
Having scored first I can't really say we turned negative trying unsuccessfully to protect a lead. Can't say I saw too many season ticket holders frustrated at the way we didn't give up, and fought our way to creating a winning goal through some attractive pieces of "passing football" either.
O well, I will have to be unhappy on a future occasion instead.

[ And it's Keiron Phelan, btw. Come round, I'll bake a cake. Thought you copped it in Coronation Street, bet billy was hoping so. Anyway isn’t your dog called Kevin, what’s he got against him? Billy's a massive Les Dennis fan and Phelan scuppered his family's fortunes. I get it now. Are you sure he wasn't a Lenny Dennis fan?
