Apologies. I worded my post wrongly. As in, conceding three goals wouldn't make the best debut by all accounts. No offence intended. Pleased to hear other than that he had a good game. If it weren't for the young keeper we would have gone down 5-6 today. Even taking away all the mitigating circumstances, players out, bad pitch etc, it was a terrible performance which may well be the heaviest defeat suffered under Dos to lower league opposition. Bad day at the office 'YES' Performance crap 'YES' are the 11 who played today really that bad 'NO' That Northern conference is far stronger than the south.

Great to see grasses don’t prevail .. ..robins through comfortably to the last 16 👍 I'm sure that the vast majority of Sutton United supporters (myself included) would like to wish our friends and neighbours at Carshalton Athletic all the best in this competition.

Spennymoor fan here...
2 comments... Feisty the young keeper was excellent. He made at least 3 unbelievable saves. He had no chance with the goals. The first 2 were great strikes.
Secondly, what a great bunch of fans you brought up to Spennymoor. Great banter, very friendly & very welcome at Spennymoor again.
Good luck in National League... hopefully the playoffs beckon for you

As always I’m disappointed to exit the Trophy (but other side of the coin may it be a blessing in disguise?! 🤔), sounds like we were well beaten yesterday and judging by comments on here and twitter we were very poor - as Bairdy says.. “Brackley-esque”. Good luck to Spennymoor for the rest of the competition.
For us I’m hoping we can get Collins and Thomas back from injury soon. At least Dobson and Williams come back in next week at Eastleigh. Any idea where Toure was yesterday? Surely not another one on the treatment table?!
18 games now for us to see what we can do in the league and finish as high up as possible.

I’ve just checked this - it is indeed (overtaking last season’s defeat at Brackley and the debacle against Burgess Hill a few seasons back).

To the casual observer, Billy's "loony" epithet would seem a little more apposite right now.

So just the league left now, as we exit a second knockout competition in the space of five days. Injuries and ineligibility deprived us of several players, but we were doing all right until the first of two wonder strikes from Moors' leading scorer Glen Taylor. The young Chelsea loanee Ziger had just made one of three outstanding saves, this one at the expense of a corner, but from that Taylor received the ball and volleyed home. Thereafter we barely troubled the home keeper, labouring in vain up the slope in the second half. Their third goal, late in the game, killed off any faint hope of a comeback.
As is often the case, a genuinely friendly welcome from some of the locals and spirited pre-match and post-match drinking compensated for the disappointment.

To the casual observer, Billy's "loony" epithet would seem a little more apposite right now. Except that none of us knew what the result was going to be and few people would have predicted it! For all we knew, we could have won 6-0 and you probably wouldn't feel that way then. Hope plays a big part in football, doesn't it?

So presumably this mean the away match at Salford is now a midweek one?

Do we know how many made the trip up there?

Think Bairdys "Brackleyesque" assessment is a bit harsh on Spennymoor who I thought performed better than many of the club's we've face this season. They play like that and we'll be facing them in the league next season.
Well beaten and no complaints or bitterness from here. We had 2 fantastic goals against us but the only real issue from today was us not testing their keeper. Otherwise back to the league. Shame we've got Eastleigh next, a place where we never do well. Good luck to Spennymoor- decent people too and it's always odd to hear an opposing crowd singing "We hate Bromley".

Casual observers might not stop to think about whether our fans can predict the future Not sure how many. Was a decent turnout but because there was a mixture of both sets of fans at both ends it was hard to judge numbers. Spennymoor did send us through different turnstiles though, so they should have a reasonably accurate idea of the home/away split.

Not sure where you get that idea from. There are no figures on home / away split
