Can only reiterate what others have said. All the best to Dos and his family; hope he gets some quality time with them over the coming months.
Being a fellow long(ish) traveller I can certainly support that aspect of his reasoning and I have only been doing it for two years and Littlehampton is not as far as where Dos comes up from. I only turn up to watch the match and support the team too but some drives home, especially the midweek ones can be draining in that the brain takes ages to slow down once home, thus getting to sleep can be difficult and I don't have to get up for anything in the morning like he does either.

All the best Dos. 11 years without much of a break is bound to take its toll. No watching the game on Saturday on the TV now !

Hi Paul, if you do read this, thank you for all you’ve done for the club in the last 11 years. Enjoy this little break and come back refreshed. Hope your parents improve, especially mum, who is not very well at all.
I’m not sure you’ll be able to stay away from the club. With your commitment and love, I think you may still come to matches at GGL, obviously without the pressure of day to day involvement. If the opportunity arises. If you get the chance, watch some cricket, even if it’s at the Rose Bowl, just sit back in the sun and relax.
All the best mate.
Bob
I hope no one is offended by this, because it is heart felt.

Well said mate, and to be honest if anyone is possibly offended by that, they need a slap.

The issue is not people being offended, it's the fact that Dos said quite clearly that he doesn't want his personal circumstances shared on the forum. Requesting for people to respect his wishes about a deeply personal matter isn't really the same as taking offence or telling people what to do.
It's apparent that everyone who's posted about it means well and is only trying to be kind and show Dos we all support his decision and wish him well, but I think it would be better to do that without going into specifics, as he asked us not to. It's really nice to see so many people care, though. Personally I wish him all the best too and agree with the sentiment behind all the posts made about it so far.

And massive credit to Bairdy as well. It takes strength of character and empathy to provide a colleague with support and solidarity when they need a time out. It's not the announcement I find shocking, but rather the length of time that Dos has shown his unstinting commitment to the club without a proper break. One of the many reasons why I haven't regretted my decision to forefeit premiership football to follow this extraordinary side.

I can't go into specifics because I wasn't at the forum so I'm hearing second hand information. But I can totally empathise and I'm sure anyone who has ever been in that position can, too. I don't know the exact personal circumstances and it's none of my business but I know from personal experience it's a hellish situation and I guess, having had problems coping with it, just that "It's OK not to be OK". That's all.

All the very best to Dos - and many, many thanks for the last 11 years - what an amazing time to be a Sutton fan ....even from 12,000 miles away.

A brilliant chap Paul Doswell is and a brilliant football club he’s lead over this last decade.
And BAIRDY - - another quite brilliant individual too.
It’s a special place GGL and it’s made special by everyone.

we are 7th in the attendance league, yet still have a cash shortfall. makes you wonder how all the other much more poorly supported clubs keep going-must be down to really wealthy directors

Also, most other clubs at our level charge more for admission and season tickets then we do.

I see Boring Wood have "done a Sutton" and are only charging £99.00 for an adult 2019/20 season ticket...
