Big game this one. If we harbour any hopes of squeaking into the play offs we'll probably have to win every remaining game, for the O's it's huge as Salford have found their form and are pushing them all the way. Set up to be a cracker. It'd be a very satisfying double if we can win this one.

Preview of the game can be found HEREThe review - written from the O's perspective - uses the word 'physicality' 3 times about Sutton. It seems to be to be a National League trait - not especially Sutton - that the players are mainly big men.
They mention Bailey, only because of the spitting incident in their bar, and otherwise name Beautyman and Eastmond. None of our strikers or wingers gets a mention. I hope our anonymous players take note - they are not mentioned because they are not thought of as a threat. It is well beyond time for our non-striking strikers and wingers who won't go around the full-back to put in a display that gets them noticed. A thumping of the league leaders should do the trick.

I went to this fixture last season. First game and live on BT with the early kick-off. Bathed in the glorious sunshine, then got soaked in that freakish rainstorm. Although it wasn't as bad as the one when playing Gateshead later last year at half time.
Gutted I can't make this one. Working until midday. Hope all enjoy a Sutton win.

One for the statisticians here.
Did we make history and potentially again today fielding a side where all of our back 5 have a surname beginning with the letter B?

A battling performance, a great goal from Jonah but ultimately a disappointing afternoon with both goals from Orient which should have been prevented.

This was the kind of Sutton performance which makes you keep coming back for more. Full of enthusiasm and energy they made Orient look very ordinary. A great strike from Jonah put us 1-0 up but sadly what looked like two individual errors from Ross Worner gifted Orient 2 goals and was completely unwarranted. The League title is certainly going down the wire but sadly our play off challenge ended with the Orient goals.
Our makeshift defence did us proud but up front i don't feel that Brett Wiliams is Conference National level anymore.I suppose the fact that he couldn't hold down a starting role in a National South team speaks volumes although he has been a good player in his day.

We fielded a team with one defender and Orient didn’t lay a single glove on us. They’re top of this league and the only save I can recall was a decent one from a 20 yarder in the 1st half. Great credit to the side for that. With all due respect to whoever wins this league it’s not going to be a side that is in any way exceptional. And what a moany set of fans they were, awful.
Shame we gifted them the 2 goals, the 2nd I won’t understand for as long as I walk this earth. And with it you’d think in all likelihood the title though there is a little work to do there. Bennett brilliant, Boli brilliant.

Sutton fielded a press-ganged defence so a narrow defeat to the league leaders might be the expected result – but that does not tell the story of what happened. There were no goals in the first half. Some fine tackling by the stand-in defence, Eastmond the pick of them, ensured Sutton restricted Orient to few and hurried chances and worked a few openings themselves. O’s sole good effort on target was palmed away brilliantly by Jamie Butler diving away to his left. Your regular reporters will be at the end of season party this evening, and perhaps they can find some clues as to why the party started at half-time. Butler left the field at the interval looking OK, but the game recommenced with his replacement by some clown in the #1 jersey. Perhaps this was a pilot for a new reality TV show “Strictly Come Keeping”, where members of the public win the chance to replace a professional during the game. There was even a consolation prize today of replacing the 4th official - for a period of non-stop stereo verbal abuse – which somebody won. I would have to give this clown’s make-up team a six for technical merit – their man was a perfect Ross Worner look-alike, but the resemblance ended when he had to keep goal. The second half started brightly for U’s. Orient were obviously nervous – so, egged on by the fans to run at them - Jonah did and unleashed an unstoppable shot high to the keeper’s left. Brisbane Road Déjà vu. 1-0 to the U’s. After 63 years as a paying spectator, I can’t often say I have seen a new event during a professional game but Orient supplied one today. One of their players, injured and about to be stretchered off, was red carded for throwing his boot from a prone position at the ref. I should be writing about O’s simultaneously throwing away a boot and promotion – were it not for the clown. He gave the 10 men a route back into the match when he came to claim a high ball dropping in his area and got nowhere near the ball. It was gently headed over him to exactly where he had been standing. 1-1. That gaffe was as nothing compared to the second. A back pass was rolled to ‘Ross’ (not the real one, obviously) - standing about 3 yards from his left goalpost. It is an easy hoof upfield with 2 O’s forwards closing but 8 yards away. He chose instead to play keepy uppy – failed badly - and in the ensuing scramble the clown and the two forwards all ended up on the rubber. Penalty to O’s 1-2. Sutton’s outfield then lost all discipline. Understandable with that going on behind them but inexcusable – and they did not fashion another attack but collected a few more yellow cards.

A really good performance with a make shift side, despite the defeat, I think we saw something today which could do well in the future, our defence contained Orient really to bugger all, without a recognized central defender at all. There could the makings of a good system there with Roarie, maybe Bolly working as wingbacks, Bailey, Becks and JC all to come back in, I don't think its a department we are going to struggle in.
I thought Eastie was immense today, putting his body on the line, and working so hard in a position he not noted for. Jonah showed us he can score with a cracker, he should let fly more often from 20 yards. As for Orient, they were pretty average but had the gods smiling upon them today, it happens. Ross forced into action, didn't have too much to do, and yep made a couple of mistakes - So What, he is a top top keeper.
As for the Orient faithful, well blow me, a throw back to the 80's, I thought the likes of good old fashioned football Neanderthal has long since died out, but judging by their foul language, the beer cans, the non recognition of what a dustbin looks like, they survive in small pocket of East London.

Ross has to take responsibility for today's defeat, but (see above) he's earned us so many points over the last four seasons that it would be churlish to criticise him. Even had we won this game, the play-offs would still have been a tall order. What he may have done is handed Orient a route to the NL title and so annoyed the hell out of the Class of '92. I might just be able to forgive him.
Considering that our back four consisted of two wingers playing FB, and an FB and central midfielder playing CB, we did really well to contain the likely champions for so long. Every Sutton outfield player battled to regain possession and disrupt Orient's build-up play. It was just a shame that, when we did attack, most goal-bound balls were lofted into the arms of the visiting keeper. Jonah's superb opener was out of keeping with that, but we were unable to fashion another serious goal attempt, even after a moment of petulance by the injured James Dayton had seen the O's reduced to ten men.
We stay 9th, with faltering Gateshead the only club on our shoulder.

Result apart, so many positive things from yesterdays performance. Not trying to pretend it didn't happen, but there's no point analysing Ross's mistake . He had brain fart, End of. It doesn't point to any underlying issues as a keeper. He's outstanding at this level and it's an utter 1 off.I thought the effort and all round play were excellent and made for a really enjoyable game. Easty was outstanding at CB and could add a few years to his playing career if he and management move him back there on a more permanent basis. Annoying to lose but can't fault the performance

It does beg the question of why he was dropped after not putting a foot wrong. It seems pretty likely that it affected his confidence, which is poor man management imo.
