I haven't got time to read through all these posts but I was proud of the team yesterday. Apart from a stupid mistake I think we acquitted ourselves well considering there was a makeshift defence. It was Orient who showed a total lack of discipline. Easy to wind up.
What I want to know is why we always raise our game in the big matches - and one tactical move that has annoyed me for weeks. Why don't we leave anyone upfield when defending a corner. It takes at least two players out and gives us more of an outlet - especially when our opponents are down to 10 men.
I'd like to hope that their player sent off whilst on a stretcher gets about a 10 match ban although he probably won't.

I have been to watch most of the home games this season as I am local and very rarely comment on here as I just enjoy watching a supporting my local side (which is great by the way)...
However I want to make a note on this as I do like both goalies at the club... For me I think Butler is by far the superior keeper now and has proved this time and time again, everytime he is in the side we very rarely lose... when Ross had his stint we didn’t keep a clean sheet in 6 games and didn’t win any games in 6 match’s... Now I know Ross isn’t to blame solely for that, but I truly believe having seen the pair of them play now for a period of time Butler is beyond question the number 1 goalie and I think the debate should be put to bed. They both seem like such great lads and I would be happy with Ross between the sticks by in my honest opinion he can’t lace Butlers boots.
Butler acts as a 5th defender and sweeps up anything before it even gets to the point of getting near the box where as Ross just stays on his line the whole game.. Butler organises the defence far better (never hear a word out of Ross) yet I hear Butler the whole game talking to his back 4.... Butlers distribution is IMO the best in the league by a distance and creates countless chances for us turning defence into attack so quickly...
All in all there great lads and top keepers but for me it’s not even close anymore and there is a real gulf in class... Butler is on another level to Ross.....and Butler should be playing higher but I’m not going to complain as he is at the mighty Sutton for now so I’m happy.

Get well soon Jamie 💛⚽️💛

Your opinion is all well and good, but saying that the debate should be put to bed kind of contradicts that? Personally I think you've been really harsh on Ross, and there's a clear implication within your post that he is to blame for us not winning, which of course is just silly. End of the day we can all have our opinions on which keeper is best, but we are not decision makers in this. There are plenty who feel that Ross is better than Jamie and vice versa. It's up to the management team to make that call.

For what its worth i think that if Jamie was a few inches taller he would be a very good keeper. Unlikely to get a place with a football League club for that reason.

Here's the moment again. Put aside Ross's ball juggling, can someone clarify to me what part of this caused the penalty to be given?

I think that the onrushing attacker stole the ball from Ross who then as a result swiped at fresh air and caught him as he came through....

Not a deliberate foul, which I'm guessing is why the card was yellow and not red, but yeah he's caught the guy who stole the ball from him. It actually looks worse now I've seen it back, I thought it may have been a tricky back pass for him to deal with at 1st.

Well we certainly do have our respective opinions about the two goalkeepers. In particular, Ross' performance when he came on after half time on Saturday afternoon.
Yes I was disappointed at the very end of Saturday's match. Like many I stood on the packed terraces, cheering on our very hard-working players in what proved to be a very eventful afternoon in all sorts of ways. But ,as has been rightly said by some already, we all have bad 'days'and yes it went wrong for Ross Saturday. But we all know (or should know) that Ross, like Jamie, is a very fine 'keeper. He has prevented a lot of goals being scored including penalties in his time at Sutton. That's all I want to say after my first home match since I returned from my hols in Tasmania.

I stopped giving my opinion on this site some time back because of the unpleasant remarks that come back if you don’t agree with certain people, the game Saturday was brilliant and the team played so well and as anyone who knows me would have heard me say that I don’t go to SUFC to see them lose but if we do and the players have given their all I can go home quite happy having been entertained however that cock up by Ross robbed the team who had given their all and us and don’t slag people off that feel that way

Andy K's point 'It's up to the management team to make that call' is close to stating the 'bleedin obvious' to paraphrase Basil Fawlty. Surely, a fan comparison is viable here in a game where both keepers played a half each? I'm sure luckyluckyman can defend himself, but it is at least interesting to denote the stats for keepers, and he does add that Ross isn't solely to blame for adverse results. It seems every time there is a player criticised on AP, it's close to heresy. Having spoken to many managers over 24 years, they all agree fans should back the team during the game, and then call it as they see it afterwards. Amen to that.

FWIW, I think fair and constructive criticism is a very good thing. It's straight up insulting players that I have an issue with, personally. My rule of thumb is that I wouldn't post anything about a player on here that I wouldn't say to his face.

As I said before I hadn't read all of the posts on here. Why was Jamie subbed? Was he injured?
Also I'd like to say that I think the referee did a great job. One of the best I've seen this season. I'm not totally familiar with all of the officials so I don't know if we've had him before and how he performed then.
