So we head down to Plainmoor this weekend with quite a decent record. As far as I know we've not lost there since our FA Cup replay almost 30 years ago. We've got a 100% league record there, and the match takes place almost 30 years to the day since we first played them (18th November 1989 - FA Cup 1st round). We drew 1-1 that day in our first FA Cup match after Norwich.
Our last two league visits there were both eventful - the first being the injury to Worner after 16 minutes which meant Simon Downer on duty between the sticks and Dean Beckwith getting the winner 10 min from time, and the last time in 2018 on a Tuesday night where a JC last gasp penalty meant we left with all 3 points. Both games ended 3-2 to us.

Just need a flukey win, don't care how it comes about - early red card, dodgy pen, lucky goa etc. Huge game for us as I just don't see us getting anything out of the next two against bromley and daggers without some momentum

So I think the opposite - we're probably more likely to get something out of the other two than this weekend! Although as we know it's a funny old game, and anything can happen.

Looking forward to Saturday.
Last away trip didn’t make it for reasons out of our control (Fylde).
Should be a good watch - Louis back plus 2 weeks break hopefully will have done the lads some good.
Torquay 1 SU 2

Fair point but what I saw of dagenham was very impressive and bromley are flying. Also records seem to count for quite alot in this league and ours at plainmoor is pretty good as the OP points out. We need 4 points from 3 very tough games. Don't see us achieving that if we lose this one

I didn’t realise Torquay are only two points off top - they’re going well on their return to the National League this season. Sutton will have to keep a close eye on striker Jamie Reid who’s the divisions top scorer with 14.
Having had the weekend off, we should be absolutely raring to go for this one - will Collins return to the side from a recent knock I wonder..hopefully Louis John comes in to make his debut.

Torquay have won their last four at home, and won 4-2 at Halifax in their most recent league outing, but did get dumped out of the Cup 1-0 at Maidstone last Saturday. Matt Gray watched that game so we hope will have come away knowing how to keep Jamie Reid quiet!
My recommended pub is the Crown & Sceptre (2 Petitor Road, St Marychurch TQ1 4QA), one that doesn't seem to have been discovered by other Sutton supporters on our previous trips to Torquay, perhaps because it's on the opposite side of Plainmoor from the town centre. Run by the same family for over 40 years, it has two characterful and contrasting bars, one with stone walls and the other full of paraphernalia. Lunches are available and expect a couple of beers from Devon breweries. It's about fifteen minutes' walk from Plainmoor and there are buses to St Marychurch from the harbourside.

The bus stops directly opposite the pub at the top of St Marychurch. When you come out of the pub turn left, and left again round the corner into the next road for the 35C bus back to Plainmoor, the town centre and harbourside.
