I would go but I would wear a mask. A mask does not protect the wearer only other people, these virus's are tiny, its like putting a 80yr old as center back vs Lionel Messi and expecting him to stop him

Maybe it's other people jr is concerned about. I would be thinking the same to be honest.

WHO stating 1m social distancing is satisfactory. How times change.

I like Sallycat's optimism Yes of course a face mask will not do any harm and studies do show they can be of limited benefit to the wearer, however this is minimal when compared to the protection given to others when wearing a mask. The reason is because the virus is unusually contained within droplets which are much bigger than the virus itself and they are stopped or significantly reduced from getting into the air when a mask is worn. A clinical study on hamsters showed an 80% reduction in infection rates of hamsters not wearing masks when exposed to ones with the virus that were masked. As for WHO we really would had been better off getting advice from Roger Daltrey, and on close inspection the virus has stamped on it 'Made In China'

I am pretty relaxed about it all to a point.I follow all the rules and rely on what I am told by the relevant experts.I know that this advice is often controversial but, short of sitting under the stairs all day, what else can you do? To be honest I don't think it will be very enjoyable going to a game with masks, gloves, eye protection,No bar, toilet issues etc etc. Also it will be a constant knife edge in case you inadvertently get 1.99 metres from someone and they either dive into the hedge or give you a torrent of abuse.I will leave it until things are a little more "normal".Kpinwp is absolutely correct in saying that at some point, when the threat level has dropped as low as can reasonably be expected,it will have to be regarded as a calculated risk otherwise life,as we know it,may be over.We aren't there yet of course. So I will go as soon as I am told I can in a "normal-ish"way.Not before.

Whatever it takes. Mask, gloves, face shield l will be there.
Still, most people would be glad to be at least 2 metres away from me at football anyway, so social dista.ncing shouldn't be too much of a problem😉

I understand that it is not known for sure whether the virus aerosolises, if it doesn’t masks are much more effective. I have become more blase about it because without a vaccine, Covid will be with us for several years and I’m not staying in that long! As for going back to football, at my age I’m not going anywhere the toilets aren’t working! 😟

Boreham Wood will have minimal concerns about social distancing. It would easy enough for their fans to stay 20m apart, never mind 2!

Very odd statement. Wants clubs to vote on this urgently. This is something that can change very quickly for better or for worse so I'm not sure why he wants a vote to start the season in 6 months time. The EFL will eventually decide the fate of their clubs either this week or next (one hopes) and then we can move forward. The north west is one of the worst places in the UK at the moment for those with the virus so that may have some bearing on his thoughts.

So there we are scoring the winner in the 9th minute of added time, and everyone will be running around in 2 meter circles. Imagine what that would look like? Will they heck as like

There does seem to be a pick-a-date-out-of-a-hat quality to this assumption that next season's games won't be playable in front of crowds until the start of next year. But, why then? Why not November. Or next March? We just don't know, yet. I have a number of very lockdown observant friends who seem to have September earmarked as the best time for them to safely remerge. I think it's just a date that is long enough away to feel significant but not so long away as to feel impossible to wait for. But I still reckon that's magic thinking.
