Morecambe reached the 3rd round in 1961/62 and again got to the 3rd Round in 2000/1 and 2002/3, losing to Ipswich both times. They won the FA Trophy in 1974

Including...... Maldon & Tiptree v Morecambe Commentator: Yours truly If anyone has any nice lines about either club and the FA Cup I would be eternally grateful. You can have this one free and everyone will think you're a genius. Just outside the towns of Maldon and Tiptree in Essex there is the village of Tolleshunt D'Arcy, situated on the Blackwater Estuary. The site is home to Old Hall Marshes. This is a 459 hectare Natural Nature reserve purchased by the RSPB in 1984. The funds were provided by one of the country's most famous, and celebrity, birdwatchers, following his death on stage. The money was donated by the Eric Morecombe Memorial Fund. All true, and if you can beat that I will tip my chapeau!

Maldon of course is famous for it sea salt harvesting (the famous Maldon salts) and Sir Alistair Cook played a number of seasons for Maldon Cricket Club as a youngster!

A decade ago Maldon & Tiptree United were renamed from Maldon Town who Sutton hosted in a 2nd qualifying round tie during the mid 00's but I appreciate that won't be too useful for this tie. Maldon in their latter guise reached the 2nd round proper last season (for the first time in their history) after beating Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road in the round previous.
Lockdown and the voiding of their Isthmian North campaign came at an unfortunate time back in Spring as they were on course to win the league title. During the close season they lost key players Charlee Adams and Danny Parish to Wealdstone.
Maldons gaffer I believe is Wayne Brown - previously a centre-half who used to play in the football league for Wimbledon and Ipswich in the early 00's.

Parish scored a hattrick on Tuesday.

Poor old Tonbridge lost 7-0 to Bradford Yes, that was a shame. I live in the area and also work in Tonbridge and although I have no affinity to the club it would have been nice if they had nicked a win. I used to think Tonbridge was a bit of a dump and was glad to be living in Tunbridge Wells but the town has been up and coming the past few years. So much so that I would prefer to live there now! Cheaper house prices too.

On a more positive note, Dagenham & R, Barnet, Boreham Wood, King's Lynn, Solihull, Stockport, Chorley, Darlington and Marine all overcame Football League opposition to progress to the 2nd round.
Game of the 1st round was surely Crawley's 6-5 win at Torquay (after extra time).
