Agreed. I'm all in favour of rigour, in this. And this post supression, into mitigation, phase was always going to be something of a patchwork. But I really haven't seen much coherence of policy, across the board. It makes me wonder if people aren't being asked to chase their tails in an ostensibly good cause only to be faced with a big, sudden, reassessment just down the line. As with the social distancing rules before shops reopened. A lot of time and a lot of money was spent on trying to create a 2 meter gap environment prior to the sudden 'distance reduction'.

Be interesting to see who (if anyone) lets in supporters this weekend. There’s probably loads of friendlies taking place.
It all seems a bit “supporters are allowed in but not really” to me!

Yeah, in a way that's my beef with this stage. There's a element of authorities saying 'Yes, you can re-open', in a situation where it's still near impossible to actually do so. Buck passing, imo.

Going to have to get used to these sudden changes whether they be football related or just general. Govermnent can only do so much (and, no I don't think they are blameless) but if certain parts of the population don't follow the rules and this results in local sudden rises then they have to act.
As far as football goes, a green light has been given to a certain level but clubs will have to adhere to what Dave F describes as complex systems of working and the probably more time consuming "past time" of documenting everything. Hence, while some may be permitted to open their gates to the public they're not ready to do so (and let's hope local councils don't allow them to until they have proved they can safely). Bearing in mind the vast majority of clubs are run by volunteers, I wouldn't expect a sudden mass opening, especially those clubs that attract more than a couple of hundred on a regular basis.
Me, personally, if we are allowed access then I will go. I have masks, gloves, handwash and even face shields if necessary. Whatever it takes but patience may be the watch word for now.

Of course don't forget that in the league when the season starts, Wrexham may well be under different rules than the other teams in terms of letting fans in! The FA will obviously be following guidelines for England but Wales are not applying the same legislation

As we are now allowed into matches, I went along to see the PSF between Whyteleafe and Croydon Athletic. Drinks and cold snacks were on sale outside in the car park and you had to register for track and trace before entry (name and phone number). Hand sanitiser was available at the same table. Tape had been wound around seats in the main stand (behind the goal) so that about every 4th seat was available, although weirdly this was not so for the front rows. Lots of signage around the ground encouraging people to socially distance, but I noticed groups of friends clustered together. No-one was wearing a mask as far as I could see. Cracking game, although maybe this was because it was the first game I’d seen for over 4 months! I reckon there were about 100 people watching. It was easy to socially distance if you wanted to and I felt no concern for being there.

Redhill v Egham for me then. Del, I guess you already know that this match has been cancelled due to one of the Redhill players testing positive. It's desperate luck for the Lobsters who have now had to forfeit the tie and lose out on the opportunity to earn over £1,000 in prize money.

I went to the Merstham v Farnborough pre-season game yesterday. They had a QR code for track and trace, but I admit I didn't see it until I was leaving the ground! They also had a sanitiser available. Around 60-70 people in attendamce (most from Farnborough I think) and only saw one mask. Areas of the ground were fenced off, including the small stand behind the goal and much of the side with the dugouts, maybe to allow space for the players to warm up away from spectators? No social distancing in the main stand, but it's pretty open to the elements and not many people.
Next game will be the Tanners v Dorking on Monday, which is an all-ticket match.

Thanks for the update, Tony. Does anyone know the arrangements for Croydon v Sutton Common Rovers on Tuesday?

Thanks for the update, Tony. Does anyone know the arrangements for Croydon v Sutton Common Rovers on Tuesday? According to their webpage spectators will be allowed with a maximum of 300, following a successful Stage 1 game against C-Casuals. No mention of special ticketing arrangements so I presume there won’t be any. I intend to be there and the following night for the Balham game, assuming my car survives the rutted track on the first night.

Thanks for the update, Tony. Does anyone know the arrangements for Croydon v Sutton Common Rovers on Tuesday? Yes, thanks from me also, Tony. I tend to hop around the local grounds as well, so it’s good to know what practices different clubs are currently adopting. A bit of online research suggests that some clubs aren’t geared up for handling Track & Trace by QR codes, although Lingfield specifically state “No app, no entry”! Tooting Bec also insist on the app being downloaded. Raynes Park Vale and Chipstead seem to be contactless payment only. A number of clubs, like Guildford and Dorking Wanderers, recommend purchasing tickets in advance and Horley stress that it’s got to be correct money only at the gate because they aren’t able to give change!
