Del, I guess you already know that this match has been cancelled due to one of the Redhill players testing positive. It's desperate luck for the Lobsters who have now had to forfeit the tie and lose out on the opportunity to earn over £1,000 in prize money. I knew one of the Redhill players had tested positive and the match was off but didn't realise they had to forfeit the tie. I was only thinking earlier that it wouldn't surprise me at all if Redhill were not the only club that this happens to....and then I discovered that Burton Park Wanderers v AFC Sudbury is also off due to a Burton player testing positive yesterday. It’s even more of a kick in the teeth for them because the match had been selected to be shown live on the BBC Red Button. Their manager has made his feelings known: "It bothers me greatly that the FA aren’t doing more to help non league clubs in these situations. I know by going against the FA on social media I run the risk of a fine but I don’t care. In my opinion the way the FA have handled all of this for non league football from start to finish has been beyond poor. The fact players in premier league games are testing positive yet their teams can still play if the other players test negative, whilst clubs like ours and others at non league level cannot doesn’t sit well with me. The fact we don’t have the opportunity to replay this game once negative tests are confirmed and it’s safe to do so doesn’t sit right with me either. It feels like they don’t care about non league clubs and I wonder if we will get our share of the prize money for losing the tie or whether they will say we no longer get that because the game wasn’t played. I wouldn’t be surprised to be honest because that’s the standard they set towards non league clubs!”

Have to say I agree with much of what the BPW manager said about FA support of non-league clubs!
Meanwhile, at today’s Leatherhead v Dorking game, it was hard to tell that anything unusual had happened. I didn’t notice any track & trace process, but presumably as it was all ticket via a booking website, everyone’s details were recorded. The seats in the stand were marked with ticks and crosses for social distancing but, honestly, I can’t say it was being followed. All other sides of the ground were as per normal. Barely a mask to be seen. The tea hut inside the ground was operating unlike previous games at Whyteleafe and Merstham, although those might have been because of the pre-season nature of the games rather than any COVID issue. Programmes were on sale, first cash I’ve spent inside the ground. Perhaps of more note, the general opinion of the five or so spectators I spoke to, was that all the COVID processes were a load of b*****s and a complete waste of time, and I think it’s going to be difficult to persuade people to follow them for much longer.

Worcester started their league campaign at Newark yesterday.Rang in advance and Secretary very helpful.Put name on gate to guarantee attendance, if any issue.(actually 270 app I believe against 300 max).Track and trace in place.Social distancing pretty good and organisation fine.Proper programme and cash taken. Not a mask in sight.Thoroughly enjoyable despite the result.First Worcester game at new ground Weds night and then Haringey on Saturday.Marvellous!

Went and watched Swindon Supermarine yesterday, in a pre season friendly against Stratford Town. Had to fill in a form with my contact details that I handed in on arrival. My temperature was also taken. Paid entrance fee with cash. No programmes but good PA announcements plus printed team sheets available. Bar had a one way system and the T bar served drinks and food (mainly pies and pasties) with the ladies serving wearing masks. Only one or two supporters had masks on, and in the seated area folk sat in the correctly marked seats. Only disappointment was that although 2 metre gaps were marked on the perimeter fence around the pitch, near the bar very few people adhered to that. Loads of space to not have to be too near others. It was good to watch a live match and I know the players enjoyed seeing people. The Stratford goalie even commented on it as the second half started! Supermarine ran out 3-0 winners.

First Worcester game at new ground Weds night and then Haringey on Saturday.Marvellous! Where’s Worcester’s new ground located? Claines Lane.On the northern edge of the city limits. HQ of Worcestershire FA. Been improved to meet step 6 requirements.Won't be Saint George's Lane but good to get back into the City.
