Lets just take one game at a time then see where we are. I’m quite happy for Matt and the team to take it one game at a time, but I hope the Board are planning a bit longer term! I would imagine so as you really have only two options in the National league over time. Promotion or relegation and you have to plan for either or.

Rip out 3G and you rip out the heart of this club. It's not of the club's choosing but it's being forgotten by everyone who is getting carried away by the team's excellent performance. Take a long hard look at GGL. I bet the EFL teams 'can't wait' to come here. Last time we got this close, aside from the pitch and a few tweaks , we got EFL grading for the first year but it's going to need serious investment after that. I love GGL but it is Never going to be suitable for EFL. Football league would be a great experience but be very mindful of what you would be losing. We would have to cease being a football CLUB and become a football business like all the other EFL clubs, fine , if that's what everyone wants but it doesn't come without cost. I think the club has plans in place if we go up! Me personally think it will be the best thing for the club more exposer and hopefully more people in Sutton tacking the club more seriously and seeing that we do have some ambition. Also we get money from the league for ground improvements and also a new adventure in league two witch is not that good. I think Dose said that the club had too be run more like a business, so I think that the board have the matter in hand..

Not sure if its been mentioned but I understood there was an idea to keep the 3G and lay a grass pitch over the top of it?
As for financing, I have a sneaky feeling being a league club might bring further investment, anyone notice some new US investment? If U's were a stock in the EFL I would say it looked cheap ??

My recollection (but I could well be wrong) is that the club would consider some sort of hybrid pitch which, whilst not allowing 24/7 use, would go some way to maintaining the current business model.

That might have been an option a few years ago but surely the 3G is almost at the end of its useful life?

Oooaaahh (great pretend name)
A very good point.
3G - has a life shelf?
If so the pitch (grass or 3G) is going to cost..

It's about 10 years isn't it? So a few years to go yet 8-10 years i believe. The cost of renewing an artificial pitch is nothing like the cost of installation from scratch. The base layer which incorporates the drainage should not need replacing on the first renewal. What has worn the most is the tufts of artificial grass sprouting from the mat, it also discolours over time, so the grass mat is replaced. The rubber granules can be recycled, I guess they would be taken up, washed and replaced with the rubber dust removed in that process. The granules need to be topped up during normal use since they do migrate (ask Clive about the socks in the wash). I think that if a grass pitch on top of a 3G pitch was possible then Harrogate would have done it, but they did a conventional replacement.
