The top of the table has tightened to such an extent that our remaining game in hand now looks our trump card. Our home games against Weymouth (8 May) and Woking (11 May) could be when we have to deploy it. Stockport are without a game on the 8th, Hartlepool and Torquay don't play on the 11th.

I think we will need to get to 84 points as, the way Stockport are playing, they could win every game. They still have Wealdstone and Woking to play. Their toughest games are Halifax, Torquay, Dagenham and Yeovil on the last day

Good that we have the extra day over the weekend to recover, especially as we have to travel to Notts for the second game.
I will confidently* predict that Hartlepool and Torquay won't take 6 points from their games against Chesterfield/Bromley and Eastleigh/Chesterfield. Not so confident on Stockport dropping points.
Wouldn't rule out goal the top 2 (3?!) spots being separated only by goal difference come Tuesday night.
For what it's worth...to reach 80/85 points, the contenders need the following:
Torquay 10 from 6 (1.67ppg) // 15 from 6 (2.50) Sutton 11 from 7 (1.57) // 15 from 7 (2.29) Hartlepool 13 from 6 (2.17) // 18 from 6 (3.00) Stockport 15 from 6 (2.50) // max points 83

As there are no longer large differences between the number of games played by each team this will be the last of my 'Levelled up' tables (thank goodness - Ed) 6 games to go and still in the driving seat, but having trouble with the gears.
Team played for against Points Sutton United 36 56 28 70 Torquay Utd 36 59 34 70 Hartlepool 36 54 33 67 Stockport C 36 59 28 65 FC Halifax 36 57 46 59 Chesterfield 36 47 34 57 Eastleigh FC 36 40 33 56 Wrexham FC 36 48 33 55 Notts County 36 44 34 55 Bromley FC 36 55 49 55

Max points table after 27th April games (with games needed by us to equal or beat their max score with 7 games remaining) Torquay - 88 (7) Sutton - 90 Hartlepool - 85 (6) Stockport - 83 (5) Halifax - 77 (3) Chesterfield - 77 (3) Eastleigh - 74 (2) Bromley - 73 (2) Wrexham - 75 (2) Notts - 77 (3) Aldershot - 66 Maidenhead - 74 (2) Boreham Wood - 64 Dagenham - 67 Solihull - 69 Yeovil - 69 Altrincham - 59 Weymouth - 57 Wealdstone - 55 Woking - 52 Kings Lynn - 49 Barnet - 44 It's now mathematically impossible for us to finish lower than 10th. 2 more wins will see us qualify for a play off spot. Following os's point from yesterday, the predicted final table now sets the bar for a play off spot at 68 points. This table could change significantly on Saturday - 5th play 4th (Halifax v Stockport), 1st play 7th (Torquay v Eastleigh) and 3rd play 6th (Hartlepool v Chesterfield). For those into these things, Football Web pages predict wins for Stockport, Hartlepool and Torquay. I think we and Torquay will stutter by equal amounts, Hartlepool will run out of games, and Stockport may not drop another point. It's not beyond the realms of fantasy to end with a 4-way tie, in which case we'll loose out on goal difference.

If you really want a "just for fun" thing, you can try and predict what the results of the 3 other competitors would be on their games left: Torquay (70 points) - Eastleigh (H)
- Chesterfield (A)
- Bromley (H)
- Stockport (A)
- Barnet (H)
- Altrincham (A)
Hartlepool (67 points)
- Chesterfield (H)
- Bromley (A)
- Maidenhead (H)
- Aldershot (A)
- Sutton (A)
- Weymouth (H)
Stockport (65 points) - Halifax (A)
- Wealdstone (H)
- Dagenham (H)
- Torquay (H)
- Woking (H)
- Yeovil (A)
My "prediction" for what it's worth is: Torquay - D, D, W, L, W, W = Final points 81 Hartlepool - D, D, W, W, D, W = Final points 80 Stockport - D, W, W, W, W, D = Final points 79 Now as for Sutton: - Aldershot (H)
- Notts C (A)
- Weymouth (H)
- Woking (H)
- Maidenhead (A)
- Hartlepool (H)
- Barnet (A)
Whilst I never say what I think our results will be, I believe we have enough in there to get 13 points from our last 7 games.

Well I'm not going to worry about the conniptions of the Prediction Police, so I'm going with: Torquay D, D, D, L, W, W, 79 Hartlepool D, D, W, W, W, W, 81 Stockport D, W, W, W, W, W, 81 Sutton W, D, W, W, D, L, W, 83

Here's what fwp thinks with their predictions Torquay - W, D, D, L, W, W - 81pts (3rd) Sutton - W, L, W, W, D, W, W - 87pts (1st) Hartlepool - W, D, W, D, L, W - 80pts (4th) Stockport - W, W, W, W, W, D - 83pts (2nd)

Quite simply, the top 4 have 6 or 7 cup finals to play. Anything can happen in any of those games. The momentum lies with the other 3 at the moment. Let’s hope we can shift it in our direction in the coming weeks.

I remember it well os, and the confusion it caused! I think at the time FWP were giving each team 2 extra points for 'draws' against Dover? It might be nice to do another one (with perhaps just the top 7 or so) which, I believe, will show us as 7th.

Actually I see that FWP are STILL including Dover with 44 points from 44 games.

Stockport are in cracking form and it's hard to see them dropping too many points...but things get a little different at the tip of the pointy end! They need a perfect 6/6 record to reach 83 points - we can afford to 'only' win 5 of 7. My guess is that the magic number is going to be 82 and it'll be between us and Torquay on GD.

Let's just see how Saturday goes.
