Our 5 th league game of the season and our 4th one away from home.
Quietly confident that we can come away with 3 points although i'm finding it difficult to assess the strengths and weaknesses in this new league. Omar is on international duty so Matt will have to decide between Bennett & Sho-Silva up front. Kizzi may also start if Barden hasn't fully recovered. I would like to see Smith start in midfield as i have been very impressed with him so far.
For those driving on Saturday the best option would appear to be the Park & ride for £3 just the other side of the A 12.opposite the ground.

We (Colchester) are much changed from last season as we shipped out most of last years squad, there were some very good players there but they didn't seem to gel so a clearout was made after we just managed to avoid relegation! This year we have a lot more experience in the side, certainly less pace but lots of players with experience of playing way above league two standards.

I'd be very happy with the same result we had last time we played Colchester away (even if it was at a different ground!)

I remember this match very well, not least because of some of the home sides chants, which could be best described as 'Hungarian' - our keeper Fitzroy McCaulsky bearing the brunt of it. Fitting therefore that Ollie Morah should score the late winner. I'm confident that things have moved on from then.

Yes Layer Road could be a very lively place to visit, very racist at times as I am sure you noticed! When we played those two seasons in the Championship some of the teams and their fans got ripped to pieces, one in particular was Ian Wright when he was playing for Burnley. ( Not in the Championship seasons though) It is very different now, all seater stadiums and greater video control from the Police have cut out much of that behaviour.

Can’t wait for tomorrow - - it’s my first league game of the season and I’m as excited as I was in 1981 (my old pops allowed me to stay up to watch sportsnight - European Cup semi-final B Munich v Liverpool).
Should be tasty this - doing some homework as commentating on ifollow with young TOM.
Cole Skuse (ex Ipswich & Bristol C) in midfield if we can run 🏃🏼♂️ all over him it should be three points and next please.
Prediction to follow after consultation on the supporters coach!
Safe travels.

We have some very good midfielders Sol, as well as Cole watch out for the classy Alan Judge, the physical Brendan Wiredu, amongst several other guys who will be difficult to play against. www.cu-fc.com/fixtures/first-team/

Last weekend Dean Bouzanis played against his former club Oldham Athletic. Tomorrow Craig Eastmond will face one of his former clubs (though he wasn't at Colchester for long).
I'm pretty confident that Sutton will win their first League Two match this month. I'm not going to predict which fixture that will be, but it's as likely to be tomorrow's as any of the others.
There are several great pubs in Colchester, but my recommended one is the Bricklayers (27 Bergholt Rd CO4 5AA) because of its proximity to Colchester North station and (relatively speaking!) Colchester Utd's stadium. Turn north out of the station and it's a few minutes' walk along the B1508. This is a traditional two-bar pub, with pool in the public bar and TVs showing live sport. There is a 'burger, wings & ribs' menu, a garden and car park (at rear). Expect to find Adnams Southwold Bitter among the available real ales.
For the more adventurous ale enthusiasts, the Ale House and Fat Cat, more-or-less opposite each other on Butt Road (B1026) are definitely worth checking out, but they're on the opposite (south) side of the town centre. That's where I'll be heading first. 😁

What happens to those of us who have brought the video passes on IFollow. We won’t be able to use it as the rescheduling won’t be streamed.? I can’t see that there is any Customer Service link.
