Eastmond is amber and chocolate through and through. I will never forget his joy after the win against AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup third round, his passion for the club was plain for all to see, no-one was happier than he was. Yes, he plays with fire in his belly and this club is all the richer for it.

Thank goodness we decided to err on the side of caution and cancel our trip to the Caribbean!Who wants to be in Barbados watching Cricket in the sunshine when you can be watching a 0-0 draw at GGL in the freezing cold from your (still restricted view) seat in the "Grandstand." We managed to grind it out until the 5 minutes extra time board went up. As for Craig Eastmond, don't worry about how many times he gets sent off and misses games-let's just keep on giving him the benefit of the doubt. It's never his fault. Yeah, we've actually been discussing how far it's his fault? You see? Some people are saying that it's clearly his fault. Other people are saying that it's his fault but only to a certain extent. Other people, that it's a harsh red, so we could appeal. Which is not uncommon. But it doesn't make him faultless. Don't think anyone's awarded him angel wings.

At least it’s not as boring as watching Australia beat England again and again, pity you don’t appreciate a decent football match when you see one, they don’t ALL have goals scored in football matches.🤷🏼♂️

The 4th official was Trevor Kettle. There’s your answer. I don't know which is worse, pot calling kettle black or kettle calling play back

Must agree with trev. Easty is sutton.A brilliant leader on and off the pitch. I also agree with Garethl's comments. ( see earlier posts )
I have, like others have looked at the hilights.A very soft red card as was the one at Newport. If the card is up held then we will definitely miss Easty. Iam sure K D,A S, and J B if used in the midfield will cover.Of course there is H B to come back after his bad injury.

Sutton (4th in the home form table) v Northampton (4th in the away form table) 6th v 9th in the form table. Northampton without a win the last 3. Us without a defeat in 6 odd weeks. We've got the same goal difference. Point per match 1.72 v 1.71. This is going to be too tough to call, but I really can't see it being a 0-0. Not a betting man, I hope. Nope and why I hate myself if I ever give a prediction on a score.

The back of the mound terrace (aka La Curva) provides the finest standing view of the VBS. In 1967, when it was just a grassy knoll, an excellent photo was taken of the ground from there when U's defeated Hillingdon Borough in the FA Cup. From my position in line with the corner flag everything is in the eyeline. The only way you can't see is if bodies on the pitch obscure proceedings and thus until the highlights were published I had no idea why Craig E was sent off. Having viewed them, I still don't.
The 4th official, a referee considered on many social media outlets as one of the worst in the EFL, thought he could but then he had the expert opinion of NTFC's manager in his head for most of the match. The 4th official spent so much time on the edge of the visiting coaches area that I thought he had defected from neutral to NTFC (a slightly shorter journey than the one made by the Honourable Member for Bury South in midweek). Either that or he was hoping to join Brady's Whatsapp Group. And Brady was right there at the time of the Craig E incident giving his opinion; it appeared to count quite highly. Thus shades of Jamie Collins against Bromley a few years back - sent off by a participant not on the field and wrongly.
The antics of their skipper didn't help. As he performed a move from the Hokey-Kokey for all and sundry and the video evidence suggest Craig did nothing of the sort. wonker.
The ref was very close to the incident so why did he need the input of his idiot mate on the touchline? Any contact on the ankle was minimal and the arm was not why their fella went down rolling about - he must have been wearing carpet slippers. It's a joke decision (a bit like Liverpool's penalty just given at Palace).
It ruined the contest as U's had to reshape, remove a forward and defend. They did with little anxiety as The Cobblers failed to take advantage. A tight match as it was always likely to be with each side having one great chance to net and both foiled by the 'keeper. Dean B once again won the battle of a one on one while Roberts pulled off a brilliant save to deny Will R after Joe K had delivered an equally brilliant swinging cross. In the first half Ali S was foiled by Roberts after a U's breakaway. Other than it was a bit of a dour battle with neither side showing the greatest of quality that a 3rd v 4th probably should have exhibited. Even so, it wasn't a bad watch and U's were beginning to get on top before the red card. A great crowd too even if rather quiet during the first half.
The ref hadn't done too badly to that point but surely he is the one who should be making the decisions not some moron on the touchline allowing a manager to get in his head? Arguably the worst challenge was the high one by the NT player a few minutes after the red; it got a yellow. This was his first visit to GGL since sending Dean Beckwith off in the Dover match that preceeded U's defeating Cheltenham in the FA Cup. I still have no idea what Dean was meant to have done on that occasion either.
The FLP sunk further this week with their reporter suggesting the GGL pitch was "a less than ideal playing surface". Work that one out? How do these guys get to write in such a publication? Idiot. God knows what he would have made of Stevenage's pitch last week?
Onto Harrogate for the PJT. Muldoon scored a treble for them against Oldham yesterday, Oldham have appointed John Sheridan. Another tough match with a lot to play for.

At half time my mate was saying what a good game the referee was having. Our opinion changed in the second half.
And as for their number 6 performing like a dressage horse to get Craig sent off.....

Having orginally thought that Matt was a slightly intimidating looking individual I had come, due to his very reasonable and rather smiley recent post match interviews, to regard him as more avuncular in nature.
Having seen, in the match highlights, the 'inquiring' look he gave the ref at the end of the game I'm going back (with some degree of pleasure) to intimidating.

Having had today off, I am coming to the end of my weekend, managed time to get out this blog post. It's about goalless draws, they are sometimes just fine, that sending off but no video, just could not find anything much from the game to put out on video. Anyway it is on Medium, here is a link, have a great week, shanepdillon.medium.com/sometimes-a-goalless-draw-is-just-fine-890fb0b87324

I thought that he was totally peed off and it was a look of contempt he gave the ref.

A player can gain a reputation amongst referees. Dave Mackay, Peter Storey, Norman Hunter, Billy Bremner, Chopper Harris, Jonny Boyle for example. Craig Eastmond has one. A while back when I had a car-park pass I would get to the ground early and be the first man in the VP lounge - except for the ref and assistants having their tea and biscuits. One day while reading the programme and eaves-dropping the officials a younger assistant asked the ref if there were any Sutton players to look out for. Dan Wishart and Craig Eastmond were named. Craig (I quote) 'for possible reckless tackles and exaggerating his pain when tackled himself.' I would like to think EPL officials do not exchange gossip about players the way Sunday league refs do at local Refs Soc meetings - but I fear they do. It is hard to justify Craig's red for the pitch action - but if the officials were 'looking' for him it might explain it.
