It won’t just be the stand. I suggest we would lose the training ground and the majority of our back room staff. Not to mention sponsorship revenue. We might need to go cap in hand to someone like South Park for a training facility. I'd suggest it could be worse than that. Relegation risks a downward spiral, possibly through the NL, down to NLS and maybe even lower. Based on what exactly? We’re not exactly a basket case club off the field which usually tends to be needed to go into such a freefall.

Based on the experience of mainly small-town former FL/EFL clubs, with attendances not dissimilar from us, such as Bradford PA, Chester, Torquay York, Boston, Hereford and Southport.

Torquay and Hereford were both mismanaged off the field to an extant. Much as it can be frustrating that we're run by accountants who want a balanced P+L rather than going for glory, it does in theory insulate us from a double dip, especially if our younger fans can be persuaded to stick out National League Football.

Can I just point out that Sutton are 3 points from safety and that there are 33 league games to go not 3?
Yes, disappointing at the moment but all the same. Context people!

Just watched the post match interview. Surely the system cannot be that complicated that we need three months for the players to understand it. As an opposition manager I just need to play through the midfield and with width overload the full backs. I have to agree with you, our midfield is non existent, we are too easy to play through and also our defence this season is woeful so open, because of that we play it long which is why in to days game Harry smith was getting a bit p— off with. Also agree with you about Matts comments. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

There is a saying that goes, 'if nothing changes, nothing changes' so as we stand we will have about 20pts after we have played those 33 games. The defending was absolutely shocking and would get punished at Ryman level, you don't go diving in like that in the penalty box. At 1-nil down we met our nemesis, the inability to chase a game, that was the difference from last week. For me Milson has to play in front of that back 4 to offer some protection because the midfield is simply non-existent when it comes to defensive duties. As regards Matt's position, it has to be remembered he is only part of the wider setup at the club. We are at the stage now where magic isn't going to work, some form of change is needed or the result is inevitable.

Yes, I get you, someone has already quoted the fantastic quote from Einstein. Other clubs have made the plunge far too early in a season, some two or three times and it didn't work out.
So, at the end of the season with a change that has been made and relegation does happen anyway maybe some fans will quote the Italian Job and yell at the board that they were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.

Whether you are at the top or near the bottom there are always games to suffer through.

Last season we were crap away from home. 4 wins, only 1 of them coming before Xmas (AFC Wimbledon). But even then we were not humiliated until the tail end of the season (the 3-0 reverse at Stockport mostly due to playing with 10 men from the 2nd minute)
This season. 6 away league games. 5 humiliations. Only Barrow we came away with any credit. Today felt like Accrington again. More or less hold our own, and going into the break at half time 1-0 down thanks to a penalty and then fall apart quicker than a jenga tower in an earthquake. As we also did at Newport. As we did at Crawley. As we did in the first half against Swindon.
We've let in 21 goals in those 6 games. That's 16 less than all 23 away league games last season, and 11 less that the previous season. With the current average of letting in 3.5 goals per away game, both those totals are going to be passed in the next few away games.
If you genuinely think that "sacking the manager will solve everything" then you probably want to excuse yourself from the conversation. I'm not saying that in any shape or form our away form is excusable, and personally I'm not buying the "9 games in 4 weeks" that Matt is trotting out week after week (other sides have had similar and have not gone and capitualted as we have), but I feel the issue is more deep rooted. And I'm pretty sure now that it's not just one thing either. Could be some players not fitting in as well as they should, a loss of form for others, coaching techniques (from Matt and others) not being right or something else. Could be all of the above. But it really is Matt's job to identify why this keeps happening and quickly. If he can't or he can't fix it, then he should be man enough to walk away.
The fans would have paid a minimum of around £60 for that 400 mile round trip from Sutton. Although some of us (me included) would still go, I wouldn't blame others for not bothering. Money is tighter than ever for all of us, and even if we were still pointless away at this stage, but had some close defeats (such as Barrow) then more would still come. But now with us going away from home and almost expecting a humiliation like today and those other games, I can totally understand how that would have a serious impact on their mental health.
I'm going to Wrexham in 10 days but I'm genuinely scared about how humiliating that is going to be. For the fans, for the players and for the club. If we're going to go down, we need to go down fighting. We didn't today. And not for the first time this season.

Question - do we have more injuries than is normal? We always seem to have half a squad fit...

Jesus just watched the highlights - all 3 goals from open play down our left side. Abysmal.

As I’ve said already in this thread. Our full backs are constantly exposed in the system we play and the opposition are wise to that.

I wish a change of a couple players could make the difference but sadly I think its deeper rooted. Thinking more after calming down a bit, I will officially state that I am in the Matt out camp. And I have to remove my heart from this matter to say that. Nothing lasts forever as they say. I will support the players, Matt, and the club as much as I can from here, But I wont be able to do it with belief any longer and I can only hope that a couple other teams are that bad that we have a chance. With attendances no doubt going to fall through the floor this year, an FA cup run may prove very important. And yes, that does mean I am going to update my pre season league table prediction
