I think the young guy chucked out was abusive towards one, maybe more, of the American students who were guests of the club today. Not a good look for the club, so if true, rightly removed. Nobody around me had any idea who they were or what they were doing there. We thought it was the Academy team and the girls teams. There didn't seem to be any announcement unless of course it was in the programme but not everyone buys one.

The ball boy who petulantly kicked the ball at the Tranmere player in the first half should never again be on the touchline. He is representing the club. Idiot. I didn't notice this but I thought there were a couple of ball boy instances in the first half where they were very slow giving the ball to Tranmere players and playing into their time wasting. Obviously they are not given proper instructions in what their job is.

With all the 6 pointer talk, I knew if we didn't win, people would say all this negative stuff. We are in a bad position no doubt, and I have been one to not hesitate with criticism, but lets not pretend that over the last 5 or 6 games we have not seen improvement. It is unrealistic to think we can outplay an oppotion every week, even when we desperately need to. As for who we play, there is little in this league and the margins are fine. I personally felt Bradford were better than Wrexham or at least just as good. While currently Tranmere are close to us now this might not be the case in 10 games time. We can only focus on our own performances and with a few good players out or unfit we are 4 games unbeaten which is progress. Yesterday was a crap game and to be be fair Tranmere were solid and defended very well, as their new manager also saw them play very well in their last couple games. The main grumble I have is we are now without Smith again for our next game. Thanks to another crap reff. True, there is a lot of negative stuff. But sometimes negative stuff is also accurate stuff. I think you're correct that the quality margins between many of the teams in this league are narrow. Having said that, how many of us think we'll acrue any points at all from our upcoming games against Crewe, Stockport, Mansfield and Gills? Based on how we're currently playing and allowing that some improvements (sic) have been made. The fear is that the end of this year will see us seriously adrift at the bottom. Without wishing ill on other clubs we're getting rather dependant on two or three of them to hit some serious bad form. True, But we have gained 5 points out of 3 games which is a bit better, and if we want to say we only just nicked them, then we could also look how our luck away at Wrexham and home against Morcombe where we deserved a point each. All better than when we had 7 losses in a row. I cant see us putting in a 10 game run like we have previously, but if we can keep nicking 3 points here and 1 point there through to the end of the season and not getting to down when we lose, we will be in for a shout. Could we beat the teams you have listed? I think we are certainly able to get a result from them yes. We are a team that is expected to fight to stay up and here we are..

For people who say we are going down should have a bit more faith in the club. I know we were poor Saturday but as supporters we need to trust the club that they will get it right, because believe me the board don’t want to go down. If we are in the same position come January then the board have a decision to make, do they back Matt with the transfer window or do we need a new manager because as I say the board don’t want us to go down, so they must show that they mean it. You could see the frustration in Matt in his interview but that dose not win you football matches so the club has some serious thinking to do. ⚽️⚽️⚽️

You can also take the best manager in the world and not give him enough and eventually they will fail. I don't know of anyone who wants us to get relegated, but magic isn't just going to happen, as we are we have a better than even chance of being relegated, unless we strengthen, and that means someone somewhere has to find some money.

I firmly believe that the board will be as desperate as us supporters to finish above the bottom two , just as I believe that Matt will do his best too . However , that said I am just being realistic and if I was a betting person I would expect to collect a payout from betting we finish bottom . It’s not what I wish for but I just no longer believe we are good enough to survive without spending far too much money that we obviously have not got . This will not stop me from supporting the club and the players this season and in the future . To all those thinking otherwise I truly hope that you are right and I am wrong .

The quality of football displayed by the current team is much worse than that of the team that took us to Wembley in the Pizza Cup. ‘They need coaching’ said the man from Sutton CC about today’s players. Since the cricketers have improved all round this season as the result of better coaching – it is an interesting observation. Earlier posters have written about what was persistently tried, and failed in this match. So, I thought about what distinguishes a great coach from a successful spender and pack-shuffler. It is surely making the players you have into better players – and improving results by improving the quality of the players you have, not by buying better replacements. Eddie Howe and Unai Emery are doing that in the EPL. I don’t see any improvement match to match in the performance of Sutton’s individual players. We have improved results recently by the management recognising there was a gaping hole in a channel inside our left back and moving players around to remedy it. The other faults seen yesterday prompt this question to our coaches. What is plan B – when plan A: keeper’s punts to Smith and Tizzi’s long lobs to Smith and the RB persistently playing the ball backwards to the player who passed it to him – is not working?

Plan B is not necessary yet because we still have to give the players more time to adapt to Plan A . I suspect by the middle of April should be long enough . Let’s all hope a Plan C or even D is not considered because things will then get very complicated for our squad 🤪🤪 !

Perhaps we could start a collection to buy you a cat bed and have a rota for feeding you 😺😺

For what it's worth, my personal observations on Saturday, which, for a variety of reasons, was my first live game of the season so I'm comparing with last season:
On Saturday, the ball was hoofed up to Smith at almost every opportunity. Last season, Bugiel won nearly everything in the air, so that was a fruitful tactic, but Smith won very little, so most of our attacks broke down at the first hurdle. Last season (or at least in the relatively succesful part of it), we played out to the wingers a lot more more and got a lot of joy from that. Did we have better wingers? Love Harry, but he's a midfield player, not a winger. Nothing much came on the right wing either. Very little created from midfield. We are certainly missing Easty from a defensive point of view. We seemed to give Tranmere a lot of space in front of our defence. Would Easty have stopped that? I think Ali Smith's contribution is very underestimated. Almost every time Tranmere hoofed a clearance from defence, their sole forward was the first to the ball and was able to initiate a counterattack (I think their goal came from one such instance). Defensively, I wonder whether Ben G's injury is still affecting him as I've never seen him lose so many aerial duels. Statistically we have the worst defence in the league. What has caused the change from last season, when a solid defence was the bedrock of the team?
Don't have any answers and obviously I hope we turn things around, but both teams I saw on Saturday are in for a difficult season.

I don't think anyone underestimated Ali Smith's contributions last season. He made a massive difference when he played especially when he tried shooting from long range which nobody seems to do this season.

I don't think anyone underestimated Ali Smith's contributions last season. He made a massive difference when he played especially when he tried shooting from long range which nobody seems to do this season. We have to remember how poor we were at the end of last season. This was not when the league was more competitive, and not when we sold lots of players, in fact, Smith played in every game where we did not pick up a win for the rest of the season, totalling 11 games, we lost 7 and drew 4. This included a hammering from struggling Rochdale and Colchester. I do think Smith offered that threat around the box that we appear to lack now, but I don't think it would have made much difference in our general play. I think N'Guessan has looked just as good on the ball and winning the ball, if he had a bit more of a goal threat he would be just as good I think. In fact I don't think any of Matt's signings have been poor, the issue is with the team jelling as a defensive unit, and I am not sure any single player can be at fault. Sometimes its just a case of players blending as a team, and if it was easy then the likes of Bradford and Swindon would not be in this league. The only sense of it I can make is that our direct style was just exposed and teams worked out the best way to play against us, so we had to change. To Matt's credit, that's what we have been trying to do.
