Margate now join the list of clubs in danger, HRMC are taking a tough stance after been paid 50% of outstanding tax, they they have been asked to pay the remainder within the next 12 weeks. Its unclear what the debt is but its likely to leave them with very little playing budget if achieved:

FROM THE GUARDIAN
Sutton United boss Paul Doswell says he is tired of derby rivals Carshalton Athletic pleading poverty and reckons cash splashing chairman Paul Dipre has added a different kind of pressure to Robins’ Ryman League Premier Division hopes.
Dipre this week claimed boss Hayden Bird’s playing budget for the coming campaign was 20 per cent less than the money that took Athletic to the play-off final last time out and will be no more than the amount that saw them flirt with relegation in 2008.
Bird confirmed the capture of Matt Gray this week and is looking at adding Craig Dundas to his list of former United stars - including Charlie Ide - now plying their trades at Colston Avenue.
Doswell had tried to tempt Robins striker Richard Jolly to Gander Green Lane earlier this summer, but was unable to match the cash offer he received to stay with Carshalton for another term.
And the United chief reckons it will be a spicy affair when the two teams clash next season.
“Carshalton are going to be there or thereabouts. With the money they are putting into it they should be,” he said.
“It adds a different kind of pressure. They are expected to do well and that affects players. I know it does because I experienced something similar at Eastleigh.
“They keep saying this and that about a lack of money, but everyone in non-League knows they have a very, very good budget. You don’t get the sort of players they have without a decent budget.
“I don’t know how many ex-Sutton players they now have, but when everything adds up it is going to make for a very interesting derby match.”
Sutton returned to pre-season training this week with Doswell on the tail of a 22-year-old midfielder having failed to secure the services of Charlie Hearn and Hasim Deen in recent weeks.
Croydon FC youngster Stefan Payne is reported to be joining reserve team boss Steve Griffin’s regime this summer, but apart from those two the Gander Green Lane chief is happy with his lot.
“A good 18 of the players we will have with us next season came back and are already looking sharp and hungry - despite the ridiculous heat,” he added.
“We are taking a new approach this year. I’m happy with that and really looking forward to the pre-season campaign starting to get a proper look at players.”

I hear that, unsurprisingly, Dundo is to be with the Bobbins pre-season..... You can probably bet that the money being paid to Ide, Jolly, Dundo and Gray will probably match our 18 man squad.

With that sort of line up they have got to be major contenders for the title, if not outright favourites !

Not to mention the added expense of having to buy 20-odd pairs of XXXXL shorts to house Dundo's monstrous buttocks. I will really miss him.

Salisbury have been screwed since early last season. Just recycling the same old story.
Doesn't matter if the asking price is £1. If that's buying you 6 figures worth of debt, then who the hell is going to want to take that on at the moment??

I think the leagues should of done something about overspending clubs years ago, but they choose to turn a blind eye. Anyone with any sense with just a quick flick through some of these clubs accounts should be able to pickup the fact that teams with little assets should not be plunging hundreds of thousands into debt.
Salisbury are running out of road / Even manager Colin McBride does not know who owns Hornchurch / Lewes await HMRC decision, but they crocked either way / We don't know the level of Margate's HMRC debt, but if they don't pay it in 12 weeks they will be wound up.
It should never of been allowed to come to this.

If that's buying you 6 figures worth of debt, then who the hell is going to want to take that on at the moment?? My information is that Salisbury don't actually have big debts. Unusually, the club is coming clean about its cash-flow problems before it gets into trouble. The current Board won't continue making up the shortfall between income and expenditure, and are seeking a buyer who is willing and able to provide the funding. If no buyer comes forward soon, the club will be faced with a choice of getting into debt or slashing the wage bill. The indications are that they'll do the latter - which would probably mean a swift return to Step 2 but at least the club would still be solvent.

Margate have been given another 12 weeks to pay their debt having so far come up with just over half. It's not looking too good for 'em is it? Mind you I'd take a bye in the FA Cup.

I think Margate's outstanding HMRC debt is about £25k. Still not exactly pennies, but bugger all compared to some!
