The last game i saw before this season that has just ended was around 1996.I remember it was the week after Beckham scored from the halfway line at Selhurst Park. All i remember about the game was that it was a high scoring match,Sutton had a big,burly centre forward and a left back with fair hair who had played for Orient and was the best player on the pitch. I'm sure we paid 9 quid to get in........................................... Beckham scored at Selhurst on 17th Aug 1996 opening day of the season, Sutton won 2-1 away to Hendon. I suspect the match you saw was the following Saturday when Sutton beat Hitchin at GGL 4-3 although we also scored 4 in midweek beating Chertsey 4-2 at home. If anything season 96/97 shows one of the poorest U's defences conceding 2 or 3 goals in 20 games ending up with F-87 A-70 which is horrific. |

Vansittart & Everitt respectively I suspect. Well, if it was 9 quid just shows that inflation stalled at GGL well before the rest of the UK!! That's the point i was making.It wasn't Vansittart who must be related to Tommy Vansittart ex Palace ,Wrexham and Crown Meads ? The full back is right though i'm sure - good player. |

I can see The Yardbirds round there for a tenner............................... I went to that and it was £15, or £12 in advance. Don't know how you got in for a tenner  Good gig, that. |

I stand corrected ! 12 quid,not the recent one,it was a few months back.After paying a pound for a stand transfer and two for a programme it's 13 quid a time for me at the football.Not moaning (for once) just saying....................
