OK then negatives from yesterday: Their are some dodgy hair cuts in this group of players, Wattsy took too many touches before finishing his goal and KS really not involved at all for long periods, I swore he had a pot of tea on the brew at one point

Big difference for me was the width up front. Wealdstone at virtually every opportunity went down the middle. They tried to be compact in the centre of the field but with us attacking from wide positions it meant that they were exposed on the wings. The movement of the boys up front meant that Sam had somebody to head the ball down to for a change without having to wait for midfield support and also gave him more room to play : it also meant that the likes of Pouts had time to pass the ball. All positives really and a mention for David Hughes who helped to get James Norwood here. Once again the name of the club as a springboard for young players has assisted. Apparently he is more of an out and out central forward player but did quite brilliantly yesterday, at times taking three players out of the game. So who will be the video guy or girl to capture such superb prerformances as the team are now starting to produce. You must be out there somewhere ! Lastly, a mention for Dos and the coaching team who got it spot on.

From the Ryman update:
Sam Gargan hit a superb hat-trick as Sutton thrashed Wealdstone 5-0 and moved into a play-off spot. Alan Pouton opened the scoring and, after Gargan’s party piece, Steve Watts wrapped it up. It was only Wealdstone’s second league defeat of the season and they are down in 10th place although, thanks to their FA Cup exploits, they have plenty of games in hand on most of the sides above them.

It's great to see us 2nd in the form table. We only miss out on top spot because Dartford have scored more goals than us in the last six games. It's interesting that they've conceded twice as many as us over those matches.
A couple of points - which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere - about the size of Saturday's victory.
1. This was our biggest winning margin under Paul Doswell. Our previous best was the 4-0 against Margate on the opening day of this season. I think that illustrates the progress made since last season. We won plenty of games then, but most by only one or two goals.
2. We've now got the second best goal difference in the division. If we can hang on to that advantage, it could be worth an extra place or two in the table come April.

And looking at this, in the last 6 games, we've let in the fewest goals in the league. The importance of this can't be overestimated and it is credit to the defence who are largely "unsung heros" From memory the only 2 games we've lost by more than one goal was our FA Cup and Trophy exits, and we are scoring a lot too.

Let us not forget, we lost to Maidstone and narrowly beat Bognor. Both are in the lower end of the form table. We need to see what we do against Tooting tomorrow before we go overboard with the superlatives!

I agree Billy is getting better and better but I thought he looked good from the opening day. As an ex-right back myself I always look at the new ones on debut. Since day one Billy Hawes has impressed me and for me is the missing link we didn't have last season. He is the best right back we have had for some years.

Agree with Stewart, you're only as good as your next performance, however, there is nothing wrong with being positive after a display like that.
I think even Chukki would have scored on Saturday.
