Sutton won 3-0, with 2 Charlie Taylor goals putting us 2-0 up at half time. The first, a cheeky (and fortunate) backheel after a spot of pinball in the box, then a cool finish when put through by Alan Pouton. The third goal was a penalty from Steve Watts. Carshalton had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, but didn't give us too much to worry about.

Carshalton weren't great. One thing I noticed though is that our attacks were at their best with Taylor or Watts at the helm. We're now knocking on the door of the play-offs and I reckon we'll get in them for the end of the season. Whether we can win them or not is another matter.

A shaky start but it could have been six.I like Phillips but wouldn't he be better off operating on the left ? Another thing, why does Watts never start ? He got on to the ball and held it up far better that the donkey like Gargan ever does.

He's currently recovering from injury I think. Dos is putting him back in the team slowly but surely. It would be nice to have him start but we often switch off late on and then he walks in and the team are rejuvenated a little, so it does work.

This is what Rob a Carshalton fan thought of the game Same old script for much of the time today- after an opening goal out of the blue the Scummers go in two ahead at half time despite us just shading possession; and then get their customary penalty after we had dominated the first 20 minutes of the second half. Thereafter we were exposed at the back several times and they ought really to have increased their lead. Although we played some pretty football and won a lot of aerial balls the fact is that goals win games and we seldom looked like converting the possession into danger in their box. I'd say the budget cuts are showing now, and with Jolly no longer really interested we don't look anything like dangerous enough up front. Vines needs to work hard if we're going to turn them over next week although I don't think it's impossible as they're not that good. I see Doswell has moulded his team in his own image, with elbows and two footed tackles much in evidence, and the referee (in the first half anyway) not interested. Anyway looking on the bright side, (i) I'm not a Scummer; (ii) I don't have to go to that shithole again this season, and (iii) I've only got to endure another 90 minutes of their twatty supporters between now and next Christmas!

He got on to the ball and held it up far better that the donkey like Gargan ever does. So thats the donkey who is our leading scorer in the league this season. I really wish sometimes billy, you would actually think before posting on here. To be honest today was never going to be anything but a Sutton win. We were ok today, Carshalton were poor. I may be the only one who is going to say this, but I do have sympathy for them when their owner is literally ripping the club up bit by bit, and have sympathy for their supporters at seeing a side who were good being broken up in that way. As for us, another good all round performance. Good to see Mckoy in a Sutton shirt, hes a tough midfielder! And Matt Hann did a great job as an emergency right back today. Scriven was sublime, and he was tested at times, there was a cracking save he did in the 2nd half when we were 2 up which lesser keepers could have struggled with. Other results went our way today, so we are just out of the play offs (by one point), but clearly the best goal difference bar Dartford. A win on Tuesday could set us up for a very nice, if tough January. Well done to Dos and the gang today, just the sort of xmas present any Sutton fan dreams of

No spirit and Jolly is just not interested. I fear they may well have a relegation battle on their hands. We've always been the fans with a hell of a lot more dignity and integrity

We were average, they were awful. Difficult pitch to play football on. Should have scored more but how often do we get the last pass wrong? Need to be more incisive. Gargs did look like he had a few too many Xmas beers . . . or too much turkey . . .
Let's hope we can string something together - Cray look like they are doing ok so won't be easy there. Hopefully we can put Carshalton in the mire by going and winning at their place next week too.

Just read that Cray (on their website mind) are the second oldest assoc. football team in the world. I always thought it Hallam, with Sheffield being the oldest?

We won with something to spare and we were certainly not firing on all cylinders, the bobbins do look a demoralised bunch and I agree that a relegation dog fight could be on the cards for them. We were quite slow out of the block 2 lapses of early concentration could of cost us against a better side but apart from the disallowed goal they never threatened at all in the first half. We got our first as a result of pressure on their back 4 and I thought it was a OG but it seems I might be doing CT a disservice? Poulton's pass and CT's take down for the second was top drawer stuff and we could of gone in 3 up at ht. I thought Dos took a risk in the second half by going very deep early on and taking off CT and choosing to let them have the ball, but the tactics worked as Watts come on to score his customary penalty. What was the defender thinking of to do that when a player is turning away from goal? As for any bobbins thinking they dominated the first 20 of the second half should really learn how the game works, we conceded the ground in a effort to get the 3rd on the break and it worked although I don't think we needed to do it.
With Cray on Tuesday followed by the bobbins again next week we have to be looking at 9pts out of 9 if we have serious promotion ambitions.
'Billy Nothing wrong with Donkey's my fav player of all time was a donkey, one Mr Adams. You just written next weeks headline though, when Sam scores the winner it will be: Donkey wins Derby ;D

I hope Gargan does score the winner next week mate.Certain people in here react to any criticism as if you'd kicked their Granny in the shins !
I thought he (Gargan) was poor today. You can't play well every game but you can try and put yourself about a lot more than he did today.

Sam Gargan runs his socks off for the team and doesn't often get any reward.
As for "Rob", that must be trolling, surely? If it's not trolling then the bitterness, delusion, hypocrisy and woes of those comments make the taste a victory a little sweeter, cheers!

I'm not defending our player at all - Sam didn't have a great game today (although as Honsec said, it wasn't for lack of effort) - I just can't see how calling someone a 'donkey' is going to be helpful to anyone, needless to say the aforementioned player who has just as much right to read this board as anyone else. If a player is a bit out of form and needs a boost in confidence, such limited and neolithic comments is hardly going to be a boost is it? And according to your stats, he's scoring almost every other game. Wow, its such a crime to score a hat trick now? And maybe you've forgotten how many other goals this season not scored by him, but he played a direct part of? Try a little support and encouragment when you think a player is under performing. It may work wonders.
