If you took all of the 'get out of jail free' cards from all the Monopoly sets in Britain, you still would not have enough to explain that result. Massive credit to the team for not giving up on a game that looked lost though.

The mark of a championship winning team is to play to the final whistle which we did today.Excellent win!

On a side note - if any one in the Securicor terrace found a mobile phone - let me know asap. I lost it (presumably around the fourth goal celebration) and naturally would like it back rather than getting a new one. Thanks

What a fantastic and important win, but I don't really get Stones anger at the result, they were certainly not cheated and will have to just take it on the chin. We kept going and never stopped and even those that had a poor game were not short on effort and we won because we wanted it that little bit more. I do not think that they were a great side in fact for the 1st 20mins they were unable to get the ball off us and score with their only attack to that point. The second goal was us going to sleep at the back and stones should remember that it went off the post when they talk about luck? I cannot tell about offside decisions at the other end of the pitch but some they go for you and some they don't. We were guilty of not tracking their players and closing down which gave the space for the 3rd goal which he took well but should never had the time to get the shot away. Dos bought on Jolls and Tom to go for it and Stones were only living on our moves breaking down particularly TD's corners which were poor today. They choose to sit back at 3-1 and 9 times out of 10 they would have got away with it but as we know there is a danger in doing that because it only takes one error or one moment of brilliants to change the tide. At 3-3 you had that feeling that one more ball in the box would do it and so it proved. WELL DONE BOYS ON A FANTASTIC COMEBACK A BIG 3PTS

Goals from Page and Downer means that we've now had 13 different goalscorers in the league so far this season. Very impressive.
The performance was great. Of course we didn't deserve to be 2 goals down when we were. Play was in the Stones' half most of the time and the guys played some neat football around the field.
The strength of mind present from all Sutton players today was great, and that's what you get being top of the league. They knew they were good enough and never gave up. It was times like that last season when the players were a real let-down.

Blimey! Couldn't see us scoring let alone get two.
Good summing up by Andy K above, so I won't repeat all - just to say that we didn't play that well today against a well organised Wealdstone team. Spendlove seems to enjoy playing against U's and was very good again today. Masey at the back was, as ever, excellent but in the end we managed to deliver two good corners at the death and scored from them both. Page's header was terrific.
I also thought the ref had a good game today. They may have been upset with the amount of time added on but there were alot of stoppages in the second half, so I wasn't surprised.
Fair play to their players who didn't moan and just got on with things. Unfortunately their fans don't appear to take last minute defeats too well. OK, there maybe a bit of an element of some issues with our players but that was what happened last time & this is a totally different Sutton team.
Not sure why they thought they were cheated though? Their downfall was the og; it gave U's some hope & we kept plugging away with the 4-3-3 formation.
Finally, if you read my article on page 14 of the prog you may notice some similarities with today's game!
With K's drawing & the other contenders having to re-schedule, a good day to be a U's fans. But lads, let's not leave it so late next time.

Midway through the second half I could have come home and posted a load of negative comments but then it all went a bit crazy so sod the bad stuff and lets enjoy the result. Football is bloody fantastic on afternoons such as today.
We never gave up even though things were certainly not going too well at times and I think the spirit really showed today. I think you could see from the reaction of the players and management at the end of the game what a great afternoon this could prove to be later on in the season. K's only got a point and hopefully, Lowestoft may face a bit of fixture congestion while we got on with it and ended up with three more points.
As for all the nonsense at the end, I think those few Wealdstone fans who hung around and got so angry should be a little ashamed. I understand that they were mightily peed off about the result but why wait for so long in the area where we were quite rightly celebrating with our players if it was going to upset them so much. Trying to pick fights with the players and threatening Sutton fans was pathetic really.
Come on the U's

Cant disagree with alot of what has been said previously.
Couple of points though.
The linesman flagging incorrectly for offside when Wealdstone were clean through at 2-0 was a massive factor. Sutton scored off the resulting free kick.
Wealdstone fans are intolerent at the best of times. But the way your players, and Manager in particular, taunted them at the end was unprofessional, and to be honest they did exactly the same thing last year.
No-one doubts that Sutton are a good team and deserve to be top of the league.
Maybe they could learn to win with a bit more dignity.

Sitting too deep in the latter stages of the game was only likely to result in one outcome for Wealdstone. However, nobody could legislate for 6 minutes of injury time; in fact did anyone know it was 6 minutes of injury time given that the board wasn't held up to indicate time added on? Funny that.
Stones goal disallowed for offside when the player received the ball behind the Sutton defender. Still, Sutton showed the character of potential league champions to take their chances (aided by an own goal of course) and steal victory with smash and grab goals in the dying seconds.
No complaints about the Sutton support either. Celebrated like any other side would after a victory like that.
The same cannot be said about the Sutton players and management. An absolute disgrace. Started with your keeper running towards the Stones support when the 4th goal went in, gesticulating at our fans and goading. Why?
And then the antics at the final whistle. Almost the entire Sutton side lined up in front of the Stones support down the side of the pitch, flicking the finger, shakes of the wrist and then beckoning Stones fans on to the pitch. Unbelievable. That is why Stones fans reacted in the way they did. Not the result, but the inflammatory behaviour of the Sutton players and management. I suspect alot of it has been caught on camera too. Will make interesting viewing I'm sure.
Quite how players at this level think they can get away with that is beyond me. It drags a great club like Sutton into the gutter; your stewards were disgusted with the antics of the players at the end but didn't act. Your manager stood there with them, laughing. Didn't look very funny from where I was standing. Your goalkeeping coach inflamed the situation even further. Nice bunch.
Still, well done on the 3 points. Looking forward to the return fixture next year.

Clearly something must have triggered this reaction as its not something our players do every week. I would be interested to know what actually sparked it

I think some of the players felt that one of their own (I'm not sure which) received racist abuse from Wealdstone fans. I don't know if there is any truth in that, but it's what I gleaned from the argument between Wayne and the Stones fan.

I didn't see everything that went on in the closing stages, but if you're 3-2 down with a few minutes left on the clock and you then win 4-3 I'd say I certain amount of exuberant celebration is only to be expected. Without this win, Sutton's credentials as league leaders would have looked decidedly shaky. I'm reluctant to defend any taunting of the Wealdstone fans by our players, but if that happened then I'd venture to suggest that it was in return for something that happened earlier.
Stones lined up with a 4-5-1 formation which served them well in open play. They had midfield players who broke forward effectively and Sutton failed to deal with that threat. At 3-1 down early in the second half we looked dead and buried, but the own goal gave us a foothold back in the game. Wealdstone might feel hard done by, and Sutton haven't exactly excelled at corners this season - but they're part of the game and Stones failed to defend two in the final minutes.
Two seasons ago Wealdstone beat us 4-0 at their place. The winning margin felt a bit unfair to us, but we swallowed it and moved on. Stones would earn themselves a bit of dignity if they do likewise now.
