This stuff goes back to when we lost 4-0 at Stones in 2008. That night some of their fans spent alot of the match abusing Dean Palmer for previous issues when he was at Chelmsford. At the home game U's came back to win with a controversial penalty and the 'Stones fans took exception to that and started giving our players a fair old mouthful (they also had a go at one of the stewards that day).
This was totally different set of U's players but exactly the same incident occurred. U's normally warm down in that area of the pitch. Ok, they shouldn't have reacted as they did but the amount of stuff coming from the "stones fans was always going to get a reaction of some sort.
Let's face it, if you dish it out you gonna expect to get it back, especially as the team was probably pumped up after rescuing a win from defeat.
Neither side covered itself in glory but why is it the only problems we seem to have are with the Wealdstone fans? I go back to that 4-0 defeat.
Shame though, as the fans don't appear to have a problem with each other.

IMO under no circumstances should our players/management be goading oppo fans no matter what the provocation is. It lacks class and professionalism. They should be reminded they are representing our club and in no way is this acceptable. I hope the neutral observer is not put off coming back.
As to the game impressed by Wealdstone's movement and threat going forwards. Felt we were having our worst spell in the last 15 minutes oddly enough. We seemed to lose our shape and panic a little. We got lucky turning it round but I guess fair play for keeping going. Still not sure our best forward line, would like to see room for Jolly. Dundas wasn't at the races and really frustrates by holding on to the ball for so long.

Yes, I was going to say that, it appears that both incidents stemmed from the opposition deliberately winding up the opposing players and officials in a attempt to provoke a reaction? I don't condone any wrong doing on any side but it amazes me that when they do get the reaction they wanted they start moaning about it, or is my understanding wrong here? As for the game I thought we were in total control for the first 20mins then gifted two goals, the fact that they looked so poor in the opening period lead me to believe that we could turn it around and take all 3 pts. Maybe the timings of the goals were fortunate but Stones looked for the taking all afternoon in my opinion, and we have seen better sides this season Ricay being one ?? Cray are not in a force position and Margate put in 2 fine performances against us!

I have been supporting Sutton for 20 years, went as a kid with my old man and carried on. I thought the game was great, and what a finish.
However, I was totally embarrassed at the behaviour of the players and management at the end.
To behave so poorly and purposely goad opposition supporters tarnished the whole afternoon for me. I was by the club shop when the oppo fans arrived from the terrace and so saw and heard everything after the game. Why not just celebrate with our fans, why react to anything that was said at the end during the warm down. We showed no class whatsoever, and did in my view look like a bunch of arrogant yobs.
If there was racist abuse, which they deny on their forum, surely it should have been reported to a steward and the person responsible ejected from the ground. But if it was just abuse - that happens every game. Some of the fellas who regularly stand in the covered terrace hurl abuse at oppo players throughout the game, every game
Now dont get me wrong, the abuse hurled by the oppo fans at the end was appalling and well done to the stewards, but I do think that Doswell - who I am a big fan of - should have controlled the whole team and his staff better. Why not warm down elsewhere? We had won the game, 3 pts gained, game was over, what was the point? He could have handled it differently, and I reckon once the euphoria of the win has gone, he will perhaps regret not dragging his staff and players away. He is after all a representative of our club. If I was the Chairman I would be having a quiet word.
Great game however, but for this fan, my abiding memories will be our players and their behaviour. Shame

Not at the game so cannot pass any comments, but the messages coming out on both forums are confusing as to what was apparently said, and what actually happened at the end of the game, especially when some Sutton supporters are critical. I look forward to reading PD comments after each game, which are usually fair to both teams., so over to you Paul. On a seperate issue was the game videod.......last weeks game against Billericay appeared not to be so.....I was looking forward to seeing BWG goal again.

Just watching the highlights and the Davis challenge was a poor one. He might have got something on the ball but he went going over the top of it. Had that been made on one of our lot, I'd have been most unhappy.
Still think he was lucky to stay on.

On a seperate issue was the game videod.......last weeks game against Billericay appeared not to be so.....I was looking forward to seeing BWG goal again. I have only been hired to film Ryman League Premier Division Home matches and the occasional Away game (if there is nobody from the Home club filming it and they want to share the costs). The FA Trophy matches are presumably not as important in terms of having them filmed, although I suppose that might change the further you get in the competition ?

Had that been made on one of our lot, I'd have been most unhappy. Still think he was lucky to stay on. Davis is a quality player, discipline is the one area letting him down. I think if you also thought of opposition players and management behaving as ours did you would again be most unhappy. We need to take the momentum from this game and put a winning run together. Time to put pressure on those behind who have games in hands.

If we forget about the antics at the end, what a fantastic day it was to be at GGL. It was the sort of match you only get to see once in a blue moon and to be on the winning side of a 4-3 result with a 95th goal is better then any drug I know I cannot remember such scenes at the end between supporters for a very long time, no bad feeling from the day will live on with me but that feeling of when that ball hit the back of the net will. As a supporter you don't get many of those matches in your locker and it will be that which people remember not anything else.

Good highlights, which show the quality of the goals from both sides.
Tom Davis' challenge was bad, but the reaction from the Wealdstone bench was not too good either. TBH, I would not have been surprised if TD had got a red for that.
Trouble at the end seemed to start with an exchange between BWG and one of their fans. Maybe this was the fan who stated that he had been abusing BWG during the game, but it was not racial so that was fine. The abuse, according to their forum, was based on BWG's wages and contained several swear words and this kind of 'banter' really should have no place in the game at this level. Can not condone the reaction from our players, but the Wealdstone fans would do well to review their own behavior as well.
Without the handbags at the end it was a very entertaining match with quality play and good goals. A hard fought 3 points for the U's and a somewhat undeserved kick in the teeth for the stones.

From Wealdstone's report: "Gordon Bartlett will be seething at his side’s failure to hold onto a solid looking lead and more to the point, perhaps, the time added to allow it to disappear." Perhaps he should look to his own bench regarding the blatant time wasting...
