Sutton United taking Middlesborough , a team several leagues above them , to extra time in a replay was a fantastic achievement.
It's a completely different scenario when the nil nil is between two teams in the same division and one of those teams is wasting as much of the 90 minutes as possible and employing all eleven men around their own penalty box.

Billy,
I appreciate that in some ways, a draw against a team in a higher leage can be viewed as different to one between two teams in the same division but I still believe that 0-0 draws in the league can be entertaining and viewed as positive on occasions.
As Andy K pointed out, the 0-0 away to Welling was a fantastic game with chances at both ends and Sutton just failing to turn their dominance into the away goal we needed.
If Saturday's game at Salisbury had ended 0-0, it would not have been anywhere near as entertaining but bearing in mind that they are top of the league, I would have come away from the ground feeling very satisfied and the long drive would have been well worth it (by the way, I have a family and believe you can have both a happy family life and a passion for football - they are not mutually exclusive).

I agree with you 100% though i'm not sure why you needed to include that last bit. Here's what puzzles me.
The last Premier League nil nil i attended was at Old Trafford against Sunderland. Their Goalkeeper (Kelvin Davis ?) had the ball , wasting time , for about 15 minutes of the match. He was booked with 5 minutes to go giving him a license to waste even more time - when do they ever get sent off for this ?
Sunderland rarely crossed the halfway line and didn't muster one attack let alone a shot at goal ,during the whole game.
At the end ,their supporters , most of them wearing ludicrous replica shirts , were jumping up and down and punching the air as if they had just won the league.
I call these people braindead idiots , you call them what you like.

A point and a clean sheet away at the team top of the league? Definitely. Why wouldn't we? As others have pointed out, you don't need to have goals for a match to be exciting or a result to be good. Even a match with 5 or 6 goals only has actual goals being scored for less than 1% of the ninety minutes. Only takes a fraction of a second for a ball to cross the line! I thought the comment about family was a bit below the belt too. Yes, it's definitely possible to have both. I have hundreds of Sutton programmes but luckily I live with a wonderful man who is open-minded enough to accept me and my lifestyle for what it is without somehow thinking he has the right to monopolise my time and take my hobbies away. That's why I can have both. Aren't I lucky?

Apologies if i did No problem .That was my response to the individual who posted this......... Good to see Billy back spouting bollocks about a match I assume he didn't attend. I normally try to ignore him but now and again i let myself down by responding.

I call these people braindead idiots , you call them what you like. They were happy because a 0-0 draw was a better result for Sunderland AFC than losing 5 or 6-0. True if they had lost 5 or 6-0 it would have been a more entertaining game for the neutral and/or simple minded. But I'm making a large assumption that people in the away end at Old Trafford when Sunderland were away at Manchester United are Sunderland fans and are therefore not neutrals, so a point (even after a seemingly boring 0-0 draw) would be very much welcome for them, especially in the season where Sunderland finished bottom of the PL with 13 (?) points. People who support Football teams (rather than turn up to watch when the weather and/or opposition suits them) would much rather see them pick up a point in a dull game than lose in a goalfest. For instance I'd rather watch Sutton scrape a 1-0 win in the dullest game imaginable than lose 5-4 in the most exciting end-to-end game, as the victory would make me, as a Sutton supporter far happier. But I guess that's the difference between a supporter and someone who just watches a game (yet feels the need to express his or her antiquated opinions), a supporter cares more for the welfare of his or her club. By the way, only a naive simpleton would assume a 0-0 draw is a boring game. Attacking play isn't the only aspect of good Football.

Can we not stop all these personal attacks on here.Everyone is entitled to their view whether it be in a minority of one. You can simply agree to disagree.
Football is all about opinions and no one is particularly right or wrong.

Sunderland finished bottom that year with 15 points. All season they scored 12 goals at home and 14 away. The end does justify the means when these teams nick a nil nil , but how often is that ? They normally get beaten. If they had a go they might surprise themselves now and then and gather all 3 points.

The first match under FA laws was played at Limes Field in Barnes on 19 December 1863. Barnes and Richmond drew 0-0.
