They were happy because a 0-0 draw was a better result for Sunderland AFC than losing 5 or 6-0. True if they had lost 5 or 6-0 it would have been a more entertaining game for the neutral and/or simple minded. But I'm making a large assumption that people in the away end at Old Trafford when Sunderland were away at Manchester United are Sunderland fans and are therefore not neutrals, so a point (even after a seemingly boring 0-0 draw) would be very much welcome for them, especially in the season where Sunderland finished bottom of the PL with 13 (?) points. People who support Football teams (rather than turn up to watch when the weather and/or opposition suits them) would much rather see them pick up a point in a dull game than lose in a goalfest. For instance I'd rather watch Sutton scrape a 1-0 win in the dullest game imaginable than lose 5-4 in the most exciting end-to-end game, as the victory would make me, as a Sutton supporter far happier. But I guess that's the difference between a supporter and someone who just watches a game (yet feels the need to express his or her antiquated opinions), a supporter cares more for the welfare of his or her club. By the way, only a naive simpleton would assume a 0-0 draw is a boring game. Attacking play isn't the only aspect of good Football. Sunderland finished bottom that year with 15 points. All season they scored 12 goals at home and 14 away. The end does justify the means when these teams nick a nil nil , but how often is that ? They normally get beaten. If they had a go they might surprise themselves now and then and gather all 3 points. They're more likely to get something from a game by defending well and not leaving themselves exposed. That last statement is incrediably naive

You are right about me by the way - i am incredibly naive.I'm just a humble serf from South London.

Problem is Billy you judge everything by the score line when not in attendance & couldn't even get the weather right hence you posted while totally uninformed. That's what I call rubbish or whatever adjective I used.
If you take that personally you're a bit of a sensitive soul, I would imagine and shouldn't come on these forums with nasty people who actually make informed opinion based on what they've actually seen.

Guilty as charged about the weather for which i've already apologised. The Martians could have landed outside as far as i'm concerned.I haven't been outside the front door since Boxing Day. I'm waiting for the Cricket season to return , though there's plenty on the tele in the meantime.
