Good to see the fence ban lifted.
I did state at the time that it was all bollocks. Point proved methinks.

Good to see the fence ban lifted. I did state at the time that it was all bollocks. Point proved methinks. My bone of contention is that if it is in place for H&S reasons why can it be changed to suit the perceived conditions of an anticipated occasion? I was an H&S local council rep for many years and whether or not I agreed with some instructions I carried them out but never did I nor anybody else change the rulings to suit the situation at the time. One cannot be on the “fence” over this otherwise it makes a mockery of the rule and/or the people connected with it. And re the rain. I stood in my usual(when allowed)place with my Umbrella ☔️ against the rail mainly to show my solidarity for viewing proper football as spectators should do if given the choice and to enjoy the nearness to the action(and also to hear the colourful comments from the Shoebox😱).

When the heavens opened in the second half, some people unwisely decided to take shelter in the seated grandstand, only to be called c*nts by the elderly "gentlemen" (and I use that term very loosely) already seated there, accusing them of seeking to dodge the seating surcharge, even though they were clearly just seeking to avoid the rain. Was it the Chairman? You know what these accountants can be like

I don't think the seating surcharge applies for the second half. For many years there has been an influx of people in to the stand after half time. It can be annoying when you leave your seat at HT for a wee and come back to find it has been nicked by someone who chose to dodge the princely sum of £2 (if it hasn't gone up) and in previous years £1. It was a very hostile and in my eyes out over the top attack, doing nothing for the reputation of ours as a friendly family club at all. I would urge the two gentlemen who were seething with a disproportionate level of rage to take a hard look at themselves and their hostile behaviour. Im fairly certain one of the gentlemen was Joe Pasquale but I cant be sure. If so then I offer my condolence as he's aged terribly. I would also seek to gain clarification from the club as to whether the £2 transfer applies after half time and if so whom should be taking the money? If not then I can, with righteous hindsight, tell the two gentlemen to in future mind their own business and shut up. If however it is ourselves in the wrong then I will gladly not seek entry to the stand at half time ever again and offer my sincere apologies for the hundreds of times I have done so over my 30+ years supporting the club. I personally prefer to put that money towards a beverage or three.

The nice chap who hands out the tickets before the start obviously wants to go and watch the match, leaving people to come in to the stand without paying.
If you can't afford the two quid let me know how many games you will be attending and i'll give you the money with pleasure.
Lastly, please don't try and link me with the morons shouting abuse.I made no mention of that as it is obviously wrong.I was merely reminded of the second half liberty takers by a previous post.

Well unless you police the stand for the whole match then people will always go in there. I have got to admit i have been guilty of that in a past life !

Maybe we need someone to count the people going into the stand after halftime and ask for a £1 for half a match. Now who could we get to do the count?

This is interesting and something I wasn't aware of - especially as I don't like sitting at football.
What are the rules then? Do Stand season ticket holders have allocated seats? What happens if they've paid and then someone comes and takes their seat at half time? I think that in our position we should have someone controlling this for the entire match.

Dave, looking at the Official Website, there are 2 types of Stand Season Tickets in existance, one that lets you have a "Reserved Seat" ( with your name printed on it ) at £45 on top of your normal season ticket, or for £10 less an "Unreserved Seat".......so it's 'probably' the Unreserved ones that are the ones that people try and sit on ! As for your last remark, you have to remember that the person who "sells" the unreserved seats is an 'unpaid volunteer' who's doing his / her bit for the Club, has been at the ground from the time the turnstiles are open, usually around 1 1/2 hours before kick off, and just like you, has come to support their team, so you can't / shouldn't expect them to be "duty" for the whole 90 minutes surely ?

I have been guilty of this in the past. Only once though. Last season during the downpour at half time against Gateshead my son and I escaped to the safe confines of the stand.
Usually I/we stand at the Collingwood Rec side but for some reason (actually, a hot dog was the reason) we ended up on the other side and it was the only source of cover.
I have often wondered though about season ticket holders in the stand as I've bought and sat at a game in the stand and even though you can see 'reserved' taped at the top of the seat it seems like a free for all for somewhere to sit.

Certainly not a free for all I’ve paid for Seat 25 and if someone’s in it I will politely ask them to move out of my seat (and show them my numbered season ticket if I need to) never had a an issue. The stand is a very friendly place to be but you will always find someone that lowers the tone wherever you go. I love having a chat with Ron The ‘gatekeeper’ Bring on the Salford 💛

I never realised that a seat reservation system now took place. Do you get to choose your seat before the start of the season ?

Yes you can pay for an available one at any time but those with the best views will be paid for before the season starts. This year we did it online - previously I’ve just spoken to Jenny. I only reserved mine as my dad had one reserved along the front and I realised that actually if I didn’t the likelihood was that someone else would have paid for one next to him at some point and I wouldn’t have been able to sit with him all season!
